everywhere in world ...science is a team work and it progresses that way ... for example the M1 Abram tanks get their turret and entire nuclear chem bio warfare kit from germany's rheinmetall... yet it is touted as american tank. for calculators and corporate puppies, knowledge of world goes as far as their secretary's lingeriee... for them you feed some words and they will be chewing them like a buffaloe till they turn out as saliva....

This shows the team spirit and the hardwork behind TEJAS.The media should publish this story rather than publish negative news.I am sure the National Civil Aircraft Programme will not take so long as now we know whom to approach for what.

Indigenisation....
by Bingo on Jan 24, 2011 03:30 PM

It is very important from economy point of view to support our indian resources for developing hi tech stuff.

Besides of high purchase cost , spare cost is very high and being one and only source, we have to buy cost stipulated by manufacturer...

you Aholes read properly ..apart from engine most of all critical components are indigenous. what do you think,...why russians are collaborating more and more with india ? ...tomorrow you will see americans follow suit. if you have no idea of scientific work done in country you can go type numbers on your calculators and live your miserable unintelligent lives

I agree.
It takes every bit of machinery and component to make an air carft.
Whoever heard of a flying engine? If that was the case every one would rip engines off their cars, motor cycles and auto rickshaws and fly all around.

Long Live Indian Scientists
by sameer pandita on Jan 24, 2011 03:07 PM

Long Live Scientists at (ADA, ADE, ASTE, HAL) .I am proud of each and every one of you . Whatever be the reasons for delay ,you have given us this indegenous bird we Indians are proud of .

Doesnt matter what world has to say . This is our very own effort and an answer to those who prefer leaving this nation to mercy of developed Bullies in search of greener pastures (the so called IITians ). Believe me this country will never miss them if you can go on delivering the way you have this time .

Now next aim should be to fine tune the Kaveri to surpass the best in the world such that GE starts buying them from you instead of them selling it to you .Cheers

Tajas runs on GE engine....should we call this INDEGENIOUS?
by Sunil Dupakuntla on Jan 24, 2011 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

I don't think Tajes is an indegenious aircraft. It is running with GE engine. When key componenet of air craft is not Indegenious it shouldn't be called as Indegenious aircraft. We have just built a body. Govt has wasted lots of money on Tejas and could not build an air craft on its own.

China had recently tested stealth figher J-17 with russian engine....test is successfull or not is in doubt..but that fighter jet will be called as china made by you....Very few organisations are actually have calliber of making fighter jet engines....Sea harrier , mile stone in Naval aircraft by U'K took almost 15 years for suceessfull implementation in navy....

for that matter even TATA trucks used mercedes engines for their all vehicles and now they use cumins..

and also what people say indian car - indica or indigo, the engine is supplied by fiat.

so what if a fighter jet engine is GE..

All these 5 decades our corporate industrialists just worked on balance sheet rather than R&D to develop our own technologies.

India doesnt have its own car engine, truck engines, no computer hardwares, no operating system for PC's, we still dont built by ourselves basic electronics for control system, we dont have our own 100% made in india mobile hand set..

off late, we should be proud what Tejas team has achieved..

Well, in that case none of the space missions done by NASA are made in america! just check it out.

You don't have to build every piece of the product to call it's made by you, that would be like reinventing the wheel and only idi0ts want to do that. :)

Even Boeing or Airbus wont make flight engine, but we call it as boeing make or airbus make. So no problem to call this as indian make. Parts cane be from any where. Globalisation. :)

Absurd. 80% indigenousness is good enough. The engine can always be developed in due course. If we have wait to develop every part on our own, we may end up never completing the project or by the time we complete, the technology would become obsolete. Talk sense, buddy. Either you are biased or lack common sense

All this is great but the fact remains that Tejas is a third and half generation aircraft at best. What we need is fifth generation fighter.

Every animal don't have to be a lion to make a kill. Tejas will be like a pack of wolfs. May not be very strong and stealthy but agile and good in numbers.

The strategy for such crafts is to have them in sets of 10 or 20 in attack case. Numbers confuse enemy and planes get benefit. Superplanes like Sukhoi are like tigers of sky so they can work in group of 2-3 at a time.

Allhabad seeing thefirst flush of Independent India groaned 'Inqilab Ki ye raftaar kitni Tej aur kitni Sust'- Coming to great work Of Designer s pPatel Drs and professors Patel, Pais and Dr Hariharan we realize it isa very halting dredge before our indigenous Tejas shall join indian Airforce in yr. 2014 earliest. As theothergreat poet has cautionedthat between the Idea and its realization -unfortunately there ,always, falls the shadow.
Reality and dream dont easily connect.
