and on top of that all these loser indian scientist with pack their bags for videsh when offered incentives. Some who are useful will be used and rest will be put into menial work. same for their next generations. losers among videsh will manage their aArsee.
first 2 generation of japanese and germans did just the opposite. thus there are so many opportunities for their 3rd generation expats to return.
there was an OR package made by indian company, now all of them work for microsoft. how, they were invited for conference and some given fellowship to and lured ...
it pays to screw indian economy and create instability via pakistan, angrez started the rRaped india inside out and every videshi nation is following it.
they are trying very hard to do the same to china.
india could not stop the angrezi corrosion that the rest of videshi are following.

Hahahahaha!....and now we have an 1tal!an wh0're out to teach us HOW to screw India even HARDER than the Brits!!!
Rediff articles are becoming pathetic day by day. The photo in page 2 is not of a Tejas. It is of a Sukhoi. I do not know where from rediff gets such dumbass ignorant and ill informed writers and content developers.

It definitely seems to be getting worse. Even these icons are getting annoying. It's old news that keeps getting recycled. Ever notice that Yahoo(US version) reports on Indian news days before it appears on Rediff?

The media make hype! the main supersonic engine is made in USA, the fly by wire tech and cockpit navigation are from France... so making the hull is by India... so what's great abt it!!!

It is not a hype, it is a standard practice world over. Engine comes from one country the electronics from another an the body parts are made different country and the assembly is done elsewhere. It all depends who has the developing facilities. If an engine developing facility already exist some where then there is no use of installing such facilities in India until such time that it becomes cheaper to do so in owner country in this case India. It just like why do you go to buy bread and cakes from a bakery? Why don't you cook them at home? why don;t you build a bakery at home. All because it is cheaper to buy from bakery who already have the facilities to do so. It is a simple as that.

Even some parts of Royal Enfield Bullet motor cycle come from Europe. Does that make it an Indian brand or non Indian. Coming back to your question - "What's great about it", is that India took the initiative and made this craft. A few handful countries are in business of making fighter crafts and India is one of them. I think its a matter of national pride.

No country in the world inc US manufacture 100% of aircraft components. We are developing Engine for Tejas.
If you have read this completely, you might have noticed that Airbus used the software developed by these scientists.
Nobody make world class product one fine day. It evolves over a period of time.

well said and very true as long as KABERI is not ignored or sidelined but enhanced further we can see it some day working and in production

Its not only the engine that is critical to the success of the aircraft. Most countries do not have the extremely high amount of research infrastructure and money to build their own engines. So there is no shame in getting it from others. But other aspects like landing gear and fuselage design are also very challenging. Kudos to our scientists who pulled it off.

Don't you know there is something called subcontracting. Even your m o-m subcontracted your manufacturing to your d.a-d.
the biggest problem is agents of mnc defence companies who can go to any extent to prevent indigenous technology from developing. when these people run the country such that a bofors culprit cannot be booked how can we develop on our own? does china have to face the PLA sabotaging the government so that a few GE engines can be sold? and some crooked politician make money. Please remember our engineers and scientists succeed despite the bureaucracy. The Adarsh scam is a good example of how the estate officer in the defence services is now more powerful than a lieutenant general. Kudos to the Tejas team. We also were very close to developing a 14 seater civilian aircraft called Saras. Dont know where that is..

I work for a leading aircraft manufacturer and we recently went to see operations (for business offloading partnership purpoeses) and checked some of the composite shop companies ( used for fabrication material in aircrafts) in India, and were amazed to see the advanced state of technology present in these companies. Indian agencies are much more advanced than what the western media gives them credit for and maybe this is how they should keep it but, this article is something every engineer can be proud of. Aerospace Engineering has advanced but is yet to touch the limits that it can. The next 20 years will re-shape air warfare like never before and we hope India can make leaps and bounds on this front.
