Toy Parade
by HellFire on Jan 24, 2011 07:45 PM

Jan 26 is the world's biggest toy parade. Toys that cost billions of dollars and that have made americans and europeans rich. Toys that probably are bugged with worms and secret satellite controls so US can control these toys. Also, these toys are never used to protect Indians or Indian interests.

by mangesh desai on Jan 24, 2011 07:35 PM

we have to go back to 1961 to see Indias First Aircraft HF 24 Marut designed and developed in idnia... the media has forgotten it so even us...
after 1961 Indian Gov put the plans in basket due to fears of bans by west and re develop the plans in 1990... why so much delays ...

Far Behind
by lax yopr on Jan 24, 2011 06:23 PM  | Hide replies

Iam not an expert, but i can plainly see that, India to-date has not made its own aircraft, whereas countries like Brazil, Iran, China are far ahead of us. Just last week, China unveiled its stealth fighter comparable to F-22.
Maybe they copied it from the americans, but atleast they DID it.
India lacks an aviation-culture.
We need an Military-Industrial Complex just like Eishenhower did for America.
Our public-sector is not upto the task.

Wrong..china has reverse-engineered the technology. Also the stealth figther from china is not exactly the 5th generation. India is lagging but it is not far behind and fast catching-up.

Govt will is lacking Govt is concenr on the bans the west can impose..
FYI the first firghter was build by India in the late 1960 but after that congress put the plant in basket...(TEJAS is not Indias first fighter it was HF 24 MARUT) the same happened with the atomic bomb first tested in 1970 and then in 1999 did the scientist took time or the Govt decision

You must understand the difference. To develop something we need competence to do that. We donot encourage youngsters to persue the technology in other areas like design and development of advanced aviation, shipping, rapid mass transit syatem{bullet trains} etc. May be because of lack of political will. The governament should have if not immediate but must be planned for future and the requisite courses should be developed for youth to take up these courses to gain technical edge.

I am proud of Tejas
by Shabuddin Kamal on Jan 24, 2011 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

The humble nature of the whole project is so inspiring. I donoy why people start comparing to china when we develope something indeginously. The Chinees are masters in reverse engineering. See how they developed their so called advanced stealth fighter. They definitely do not have brains better than indians. They are just good at copying others efforts. If not how come they are they are technologically advancing in recent years? Why not earlier? That is because now they have money and people to make fakes at rapid pace with no respect for intellectual rights.

be proud about Tejas
by shridhar on Jan 24, 2011 05:06 PM

for that matter even TATA trucks used mercedes engines for their all vehicles and now they use cumins..

and also what people say indian car - indica or indigo, the engine is supplied by fiat.

so what if a fighter jet engine is GE..

All these 5 decades our corporate industrialists just worked on balance sheet rather than R&D to develop our own technologies.

India doesnt have its own car engine, truck engines, no computer hardwares, no operating system for PC's, we still dont built by ourselves basic electronics for control system, we dont have our own 100% made in india mobile hand set..

off late, we should be proud what Tejas team has achieved..

Global Racket!
by Pavan C. Joshi on Jan 24, 2011 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Cute article! Real naive & gullible.

Having worked on the JSF project, the inside scoop is that a handfull of Global, govt. backed sub-system suppliers and system integrators, own the entire aviation market.

Nobody is going to make it easy for India in this game. China, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Ukraine, the EU countries ... even Iran and Korea are miles ahead.

Good Luck!
