corruption - best way to tackle
by Tom Jerry on Jan 18, 2011 02:27 PM  | Hide replies

If we simply chnage the law with respect to corruption by Public servants, whether a politician or a Govt employee, things will change overnight. Let the person, who is a suspect, be arrested & put behind bar first & let him prove that he is innocent. Until then he should be behind bar. Once proven that he is guilty, he should be executed publicly. Make the law so harsh that these politicians & beurocrats should shiver before ven thinking of taking bribe. This UPA govt has proved that nobody can loot the country more that them. And they talk about honest PM. Who they are trying to fool?

you are referring to spanish law which says guilty unless proven innocent....thts not gonna work in India as many people will take advantage.

Without changing the law all you need to do is to make sure punish the guilty.

Right now in india thr is no punishment for a crime and people have taken it for granted.

Corruption - our societal characteristic
by Manoj Dev on Jan 18, 2011 02:23 PM

Is there a single citizen of India - including those who have made this appeal - who is or has not been directly or indirectly involved in corrupt practices? No leader - political, industry, academic, jurisprudence - can claim today being above corruption.
Who is making this appeal to whom?

Correption in government
by peringandur hariharan on Jan 18, 2011 01:28 PM

It is a great effort on the part of these great industrialists to voice against these corrupt politicians and the corrupt govt. the politicians are so much used to these charges there will not be any effect on them. They are there to amass wealth in the guise of serving the people.Just imagine their declaration of wealth when they joined the system and now it is running in crores. Most of the politicians declared income is running into crores. From where it has come.Govt wants that these people has to decalre their income/assets that is all, no questions asked from where it has come.
We have witnessed maximum no. of scams during this UPA govt rule. One scam is hot till a new scam surfaces. All eye wash action to fool the public. All the people are scot free and enjoying their life.Only god can help our country from these people, but is very unlikely. Rules and regulations are only for common people and not for politicians. they are above law. nothing will happen to this system.

As an ordinary citizen,I fully concur with what these emminent persons have expressed. But we should also consider that just by writing letters, will the POLITICIANS feel that they owe an explanation for all these things? It is not that the ruling coalition only should answer, but EVERY parliamentarian is responsible. So my suggestion is like Gandhis' Dandi march,we should ALL converge on Delhi, and THEN make ALL the parliamentarian answer.I am NOT as emminent as the persons who are sigantory to the OPEN LETTER, but happen to be of the SAME age group, more or less, brought up with the similar values, and also have contributed my mite in some aspects of nation buliding. So I request this emminent group to let us know where we can contact them and contribute physically to support future actions in this regard.

Preachers we have many!
by anil jha on Jan 18, 2011 01:15 PM

Most people, most often those who feel they’re important or they matter, usually complain that their words are not heard, followed or put into practice by others. Do they ever realize why this at all happens? It is because they seldom practice what they say or preach. There is a famous quote from ‘Ram Charit Manas’ – “Par upadesh kushal bahutere, je acharahin se nar na ghanere.” (“Preachers are in abundance, but not many of them put their words into practice”) This phenomenon is true in case of most of our celebrities – politicians, film stars, industrialists, bureaucrats and other well-off people. Same is the case with these celebrities. Look, all of them have some features in common – they are all well-off people and have rarely seen poverty. May be, they have heard about it. They belong to India and not Bharat, where more than half of the population is barely able to fetch two square meals a day. How they think their word will carry weight? There remarks or prescriptions are as hollow as those of our modern day politicians. They shoulkd first learn to practice it before preaching it to others.

Common man has no option:
by abhishek sharma on Jan 18, 2011 01:14 PM

The nexus between politicians, bureaucrats, industrialists and even the media, that caused scams worth $50 billion in just 2010 alone, has shaken the faith of the common man in the system. There is lot of frustration in him, But alas..! he is ready to live with this rotten system , in absence of a TRUE PATRIOTIC LEADER.
