Development in cities
by Sunil Kumar on Dec 13, 2011 02:22 PM  | Hide replies

Seems our youth have lost power of thinking... Growth of a city depends upon so many factors.... No one can blame anyone for lack of infrastructure... Planning should be always by keeping 25 to 100 years ahead... In Mumbai it never happened... Just Go and see Chennai... a Mumbaikar if visits Chennai will feel that suburban trains are very comfortable in comparison with ours, but still they already started metro railways much in advance.. Mumbai is still planning only... Politicians and Planners in Mumbai are less intelligent... I feel

Politicians and Planners are not less intelligent they are way more intelligent that's why they are filling their pockets. That's the main reason behind the difference.

Housing in Mumbai - Population explosion
by M S SUBRAMANIAN on Aug 25, 2011 08:55 AM  | Hide replies

Mumbai is our pride being the greatest city with tremendous growth. But you should also admit that we have already crossed the saturation point of crowding in one city. India is not restricted only to Mumbai. The whole nation and all the other regions in India deserves balanced growth. It is hightime we think of relocating many of the lesser important activities to other cities not only in Maharashtra but alst to cities in other states. We have many strategic outlet in the west as well as in the east of our country. Shift greater construction to other cities like Hyderabad, Bhopal, Nagpur, Indore, Guwahati, Jaipur etc in the North and to cities like Mysore, Cochin, Tiruvananthapuram, Tuticorin, Madurai, Coimbatore, Guntur etc in the south,It is not necessary to concentrate in one place for one industry; many branches can be spread all over the country. Imagine a balanced growth all over India thus easing out congestion in one particular city.

Do you think Mumbai business lobby will allow it?
Mumbai business lobby is so strong that they wont allow any other parts of India to grow.
They even make sure that Mumbai's own suburbs wont grow. (like they will force govt. not to give power, water etc to suburban areas).
Their aim is to make city much more congested and squeese maximum money out of it(by means of increased property prices etc..).
It is a fact. but people of mumbai do not understand actual culprits and keep on blaming up/bihar people!!!!!!.

Anto.. I do not agree with you on this matter as far as power water etc to suburban area is concerned.. there is plenty with no to very few downtime. Mumbai Business lobby may be strong... Just look at Gujarat and the way it operates.. Govt should help and people should be given opportunity in other states. Its not a skill issue but a will issue here...

Why
by Swami N on Aug 14, 2011 08:39 AM  | Hide replies

would anyone want to live in a pigeon hole?

For a flat in Mumbai you can buy a very good house with big gardens/greenery in smaller cities and quality of life for your family will be much better.

Mumbai is good if you are super rich (dollar multi-millionaire) or absolutely poor.

Mumbai also has the lowest life expectancy in India. Rediff had an article about this some time back. It is really a 3rd grade city for the middle and upper middle class.

Mr Han,

that is the biggest problem of Mumaikar......you just said that ever other city is as good as village in comparison to Mumbai......Plese open your eyes think outside of Mumbai and visit cities like Delhi, Banglore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and you will realise that they have everything that you mentioned above ( good schools, hospital, education services, salaries etc) but top of that they have a LIFE that is missing in those 10 x 10 stinking kholis or chalas of Mumbai.

Blame Medha Patkar. Wherever there are slum rehabilitation plans going on - she's coming in and putting a stop to it!!

Why only in Bombay....
by Mogumbo on Aug 07, 2011 04:11 PM  | Hide replies

Why this development is taking place in Bombay only? How many of these buildings are designed by Indian engineers. Bombay has replaced the British rule. They loot from all over the world and reinvest in Bombay. This is not fair.
