It's high time Air India is shut down and tax payers money can be saved. Sell off of Air India will also help Govt. Let original owner Tata take over it and turn it around than leaving it Patel who plays in laps of Mallaya and tweak AI operations to suit Mallaya.
Thanks to Congress led UPA Government. Prafool Patel and Mamata Banerjee, both these fools have broke these big public companies with their stupid ideologies and vote bank politics.

Yes we need Air India! We don't need greedy people on top of it. Question should be "Why all private airlines are making profit and Air India making story of loss always?" Loss of Air India is a best example of mismanagement and corruption. Currently, there is no real brain or genuine people work for Air India to make it a successful organization. We should learn some success stories of other airline industries, such as Japan Airlines, etc.

unlike the private airlines which dont fly profitable routes.Air India is forced to fly into remote airports and routes to have pan india coverage for the people of India..This is tied to vital services like posts..Air india can work on no profit and no loss basis with a lot of intangible benefits for the whole country if these employees stop acting like children

Objective of any business is profit, social work can be managed by another way, may be subsidising few routes for social welfare but the whole airline can not be run by susidy. Sell off air india and let private company run non-profit route with govt subsidy. This can be ensure while giving operation licence to any private airline. We must allow may private players in this sector to keep a healthy competion so that fare remains reasonable.
Nice try private airline cartel!The article is a ploy by the author to lobby for a private monopoly in airlines business.be ready to pay huge hikes when air india is gone like what happened to BA in britain..Air india secures vita transit corridor for remote north east areas which are not covered by private because these routes dont make much money..and also posts mainly freight..Loss of air india would result in national implications..Goverment must widen ESMA and terminate their services..recruit new pilots who are plenty on the market for a secure government job on clearly defined contract with no strike obligation..Air india must remain pilots can go anywhere..i am sure no airline would take them and they would be begging the government to take them back..

This is stupid comment. A Government can always encourage the private companies to fly to remote routes etc. by offering tax subsidies etc. but just for that reason to debate that it should be run by people like Ministers (leeches) is plain idiotic.

I disagree, air india does not make profit in so called profitable also. There is lack of professionalism, no vision by management/ministry. At present form, it is used mostly for luxury of politicians /bureacrats, it will never survive unless it is run by private management with a vision to make profit...

AIR INDIA is not needed... Jet is doing pretty good job.. Kingfisher though little costly is also coming to our expectation. Why we need AIR INDIA ? Other foreign airlines are not treating Indians properly.. Emirates airlines is the best example...

it is very hard to under stand the reasons for strike.they have over staff and high debt. the biggest reason is secure jobs so they do not care about customers.
