40000 crore debt and still so many problems. Please shut down air india immediately before our Tax money is diverted to save this national disgrace in the name of national pride.
Air India is bleeding and still pilots are going on strike for more pay. Only foolish people can do such strike. Because such strikes will make customers migrate to private airlines and the company will become more incompetent and probably Air India will have no other option then firing some pilots. So, are they really foolish or is there anything going on in the background?
Large private companies in India want the govt enterprises to fail so that competition is reduced.
Example: Private telecom companies pay bribe to top BSNL managers to make BSNL services bad so that people migrate to private telecom companies. In addition, these private telecom companies created so many anti-BSNL campaings to misguide public.
There are many private players in airlines now. These companies raised thousands of crores from international market. So, they want to grow by hook or crook. Killing govt's Air India (which is still a big competitor) will benefit these private airlines companies. So, there are good chances that private airlines companies are paying huge money to union leaders in Air India so that strikes take place at Air India frequently until Air India customers become frustrated and migrate to private airline companies.
So, in India, everyone blame only politicians for everything but they are not the only corrupt people. In fact, the corporate houses are the main culprits. The corporates supply money to politicians for a all crimes.

government should not do business.. it will lead to all this mess up. it can set the max rate for each segment and ask airlines to follow it. it is much simple.

Ideally govt can stop doing business and start controlling businesses.
But practically, in a country like India where it is very easy to buy govt officers by paying huge bribe, it wont help.
If private companies can pay top managers to make a govt enterprise incompetent, then they can pay bribe to govt employees who keep eye on business activities and corporate crimes. If govt enterprises don't exist, the private companies will start charging anything.
Noticed how real estate companies manipulated price and set extremely high price for properties? Because there was no strong govt competitor in that area.
If govt set max price for air fares, private companies will approach those govt officers (who set that max limit) and pay huge bribe to them to increase that limit.
Air India is there, other Airline can not charge exorbitant fares. Otherwise they are ready to loot you. Who knows other Airlines have hand in Air India strike or not

check your data once again..fares have came down after Private airlines has been introduced..
do not talk nonsense-now where in world govt is running airline ,bakery shops and shoe factories barring this unfortunate nation
even in case of Road service whole service is in the hands of PRivate players, hotel industry ,telecom where ever private players are service is world class and prices are lower

government can simply put max and min fee restriction. you dont need to run a airline.. you can simply fix the rate for each legs
Air india and India r sick of these pilots who r no other than spoiled sons of well-offs.It is paradox that we r tolerating such nuisance when we have such high level of unemployment in our country. If any one of them is not ok with salary, they may easily switch over to high paying global airlines.Or is it competence which keeps them to indian public sector flyer

Please correct yourself, Shonalee ! It is the pilots of erstwhile Indian Airlines [primarily members of the Indian Commercial Pilots' Association] who have gone on strike, and not the other way round.
