Brilliant...this is the kind of thing we love to read....wonder why the govt does not encourage such innovators in our country- we only spend on useless things like CWG.

Why always blame the govt for every thing? We are our selves to blame. Just an example other day i went to purchase a Khadi shirt, it seems our people in India dont understand the value of handwoven cloth. No matter how much ever they try to explain the difference, out people dont pay actual value of the cloth. We feel Khadi should be cheaper and pay lot less money than a similar machine made cloth. This is despicable.
Great show. And nice article by rediff. Every one of us has similar feelings for our loved ones. If we convert it into something concrete, we can do wonders for ourselves and the society.
In rediff series of innovation certain names are common like national innovation foundation, APJ Abdul Kalam and President Pratibha Patil (all known people); but this "James Cameroon" also appears in all of them. But he is totally unknown; does anyone know what is his role in these things?

James Cameron is a hollywood film maker who made Avatar. But I didn't observed his name in other rediff article. Can you name fer articles where his name has appeared??

The guy in blue T-shirt. The photo is titled as 'Mallesham with James Cameroon at the innovation exhibition at Rashtrapati Bhavan.' Vinnie is pointing to wrong spelling of the name. It should be James Cameron.
See good; appreciate good; good spreads, maybe slowly. Our universities are conferring honourary doctorates upon useless politicians, film stars and semi literate power brokers. If they have any sense of proportion let them honour inventive minds, and thereby honour themselves.

Well said!
What is the use of conferring Honorary Doctorate to Vishwanathan Anand? He only knows how to play the Chess game well. So, should he be conferred honorary Doctorate?
I wish Mallesham gets the Honorary Doctorate rather. At least he has helped out thousands of women from the tedious work by inventing a machine.

Unfortunately this proves how narrow ur mindset is. Playing chess is not a joke. It improves ur brain functionality and cognitive skills. It improves ur analytical skills. It full of maths. So if Anand can inspire say 1000's through his game and these people can do wonders in science and maths. Chess is not just a board game..Chess is the only game that will help ur brain activity and learning directly. It also helps u concentrate, focus and make u a good decision maker. I can go on and on about Chess..frankly every kid should start learning and playing chess at an early age as it will improve their learning..

Everybody can play or learn to play chess... But everyone can't be innovative or everyone cannot be an inventor.
So, one can only appreciate how great a player Anand is but that doesn't mean he should be conferred Doctorate.

Vishwanathan Anand truly deserves the award as a great Indian World Champion as well as Mmalleswaram deserves it too. I hope he will get the honour soon.
