by Munjani Hitesh Vithaldas on Oct 23, 2010 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

I would like to suggest that he should try to make it a commercial success in partnership with some businessman. Then only the invention could reach to the masses and purpose of the invention could be served.

Munjani,

Instead of suggesting, wouldn't it be good if you help him attain that success.

Aschool dropout's invention for his mother!

Where there is a will there is a way. Also success cannot be achieved without effort. The Sanskrit saying is:-
"Krushitho naasti durbiksham"
There is no easy way to success. Mallesham has set forth yet another example of BILL GATES in being a school drop out succeeding in an innovative venture that has proved to be very useful to the community. What is important is not learning or education but the zeal for creativity.

great inventions and innovations
by kumar kumar on Oct 22, 2010 12:06 PM  | Hide replies

How many of such great inventions come from uneducated or undereducated people. The government does nothing to scale up this kind of inventions.

A lot can be done to uplift artisans like these if the government gives financial help to such innovations

Inventions is not a government issue.
It is a private and individuals own onnovation.
If these products can compete with commercial products then surly some one will take on the design and manufacture it.
Power looms for weaving cloth of any kind and design are available and used world wide.
They are not new to the world.
But if such innovations are made with simple materiel and are cheap enough for a single bread winner to sustain his life style then yes surely they are worth their weight in pure 99%gold.
All this person got to do is to find a manufacturer.
I remember when I was a kid a one a person living near us in Nairobi Kenya(A Indian chap)used to look at a tractor digging up field.
Tractors were only for mega rich farmers and not for small land holders who used to dig them with hoes.
Most of the Africans used to get together and dig each other land as group and then move on to the next until all were tilled and ready to grow, then every one looked after his own patch.
Since ever one owned cows this person made a simple how or shall I say a Plough that could be pulled by a cow.
(It was no way near or smiler to one we use in INDIA) this was a device made of all steel and it dug deep turning the soil over and breaking the lumps to fine tilth with no effort.
There were no manufacturers in Kenya in those days and very few even now.
This device used to be built by a local blacksmith and it worked wonders making every ones life simple.
It its still going strong to-day

With minor improvements.
Even in UK we use a small machine but driven with samll petrol engine on small small allotments.
What i mean to say is if NO ONE IS READY TO TAKE UP MANUFECTURE IN BIG SCALE USE A LOCAL WORKSHOP TO GET YOUR INVENTION TO MASSES.
UNLIKE KENYA THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF SMALL WORKSHOPS IN INDIA.
get the parts mad and assemble them yourself.
THERE IS A MARKET FOR EVERY THING IN INDIA.
GOOD LUCK.

Why do we have to depend on the Government for everything that we know they can't do..As suggested above why don't you do something to help such people and put the government to shame.

Well, there are thousands, if you were to just check the NATIONAL INNOVATION FOUNDATION database. A lot is being done.

You just need to will yourself to be a part of it. Your criticism is not justified.

India has moved ahead. Get in line and get to know what is happening in the rural industry, as much as what is happening in teh corporate industry.

I will not be surprised if the next big thing in India is from the rural sector. After all, the innovations from there are those that have the potential shape the lives of billions not just in india, but around the world.

Well, small innovators have a big organization helping them now. It is govt based and tries to generate profits with the small innovators. This is something worth appreciating and supporting.

Well, the govt is working with him per se. It will not be easy, but despite the bureaucratic delays, something clicked in this case.

You're right that modern india will in all probability be built on the shoulders of such people and their innovations, which instil a sense of pride and satisfaction that no imported product can provide.

I am particularly happy for him, because he could commercialize it. Any innovation is of use when it is of use for the mass

Do we write because we have to say something. Remember NO one will help you unless you help yourself. We still have to learn to stop depending on others, or putting out our hands for help and laying the blame for our sorry state of affairs/or failures at other peoples doorstep, its easy to keep blaming others for problems that come in our lives. How many times do you thank someone who has helped you. NO NO that is your effort and good luck. We are such hypocrites. So Stop being one do what you can for society and see how you'll feel lighter and happier.

This is the best article I have ever read on rediff.
Mallesham's determination and hard work is very inspirational..
The only thing that frustates is that the Congi Govt of Andhra does not value this and he has to go to the BJP ruled state..
Wonder what the secularists are going to come with the response..

The CENTRAL SILK BOARD in karnataka is run by the CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.

Not for or against any party, merely agree or disagree with the policies.

But your comment is unfair.
