Rickshaw pullers pain
by kuldip uppal on Oct 20, 2010 05:06 PM

With this innovation the rickshaw pullers body is covered but efforts put in driving is more or less same particularly on climbing up the slope, where he has to get down and drag the rickshaw with all his energy. This problem can be also addressed with application mind.

Dont need to be Hi-tech here

The idea is to make it as light as possible, so that it can be easily pulled by a man. The design is very practical, also cheap, so that it can be owned by a common man. All weather vehicle, should not get into too much complications otherwise it becomes costly affair. Overall, weather it is IIT design or a local design -- Its Perfect Practical Design Richshaw.

jugaad vs innovation
by sudhakar barua on Oct 20, 2010 04:45 PM

sorry to say, but this is more of a 'jugaad; than an innovation. IITians could do better.

Only advantage to these is pollution free, no need fuels BUT our Indian road is so pathetic that pulling manually these kind of vehicles with passengers and luggage is horrible, still poor country so I support it but designing is too poor will make more difficulties to pull it on view too much airs obstructions by extra clothes etc.

deep bahan

deep bahan rickshaw is a good innovation.
it is doubtful if it will improve the lot of rickshaw puller.
1. i had financed about 400 rickshaws at 4% per annum interest while serving in a PSU bank.
2. they never paid the full loan.
3. after having rickshaw of their own they have problem with repairs, tyres and spares. they have no money for it.
4. they indulge in drinking and finally end up with TB.
5. some sensible persons are there in their lot but they go ahead beyond rickshaw pulling.
6. sickness, liqour, police, and money lenders are harrasing them everyday.

doesnt seem like IIT has done it
by brian crasto on Oct 20, 2010 04:30 PM

It seems like a mediocore work done by IIT. The design really looks shoddy. They should also have made improved on the mechanical parts or use motors run on solar cells. Even chor bazaar makes better products

Use Tubeless Tyres
Put a Motor.
A Air-Conditioner should be added.
Cold Drink for Passengers
One need to buy Ticket before boarding.
Dikki to store Luggage.

Now, it will be IIT Rickshaw.
