the ugly side of spectrum acquisition !!- the honey and the bee
by surajit som on Jun 05, 2010 09:36 PM

one can easily conjure up an article on the subject and see what our Hon'Ble Minister A Raja has done and how much money the nation has lost(and how some people have pocketed it, not necessarily excluding the Hon'ble Minister !!!)

the point is when there is honey ,there will be bees. but we have to save the honey from the bees and vice versa. we have TRAI for telecom . why cant we have a similar regulatory authority for land transactions-say LRS(B & S),Land Regulatory Authority(Buying and Selling)? It will have branches all over the country and laws will be framed by Parliament . it will be chaired retired judges as memebers and work independently .honey is good ,bees are good .we just have to ensure that the bees dont end up drinking all the honey. that will be bad for both the honey and the bees.LRA(B & S) will prevent that. we better do it very fast otherwise people like raja will drink up all the honey !!!!

US needs INDIA to eliminate crime in US using a MINORITY REPORT style operations, SO that US police dont have to do any work and neither its military and it can freeload INDIAn peoples minds with its crap. Most people must have watched the 2002 movie MINORITY REPORT if not please go and watch it on your cable or read it on Wiki. These people want to overburden Indians with their HOMELAND security all for free. People should stop cooperating with government for the UID because it is a step in that direction. HOW ABOUT IN THE EVENT THAT PREVENTING CRIME IN US AND UK, IT GETS TRANSFERRED TO INDIA. ALL IT AND BPO INDUSTRY IS ABOUT PREVENTING CRIME IN US AND UK.
US AND UK ARE ACHIEVING PROGRESS AT INDIANS LIVES COST.
IN THIS MOVIE THE PEOPLE ARE DRIVEN MAD TO CRIME BECAUSE SOME CRIME PRECOG CONSTRUCT FOR THE POLICE PREDICTS CRIME IN ADVANCE AND IT MAKES FALSE PREDICTIONS.

THE LAND ACQUISITIONS ARE ALSO DONE USING SIMILAR METHODS.

if we really care for displaced
by kieran dsouza on Jun 04, 2010 12:33 PM  | Hide replies

then we should reduce our consumption. Please remember that consumption driven economy is not leading ANYWHERE as is evidenced by decline in western economy and their stock markets.

every time a fat assed middle class Indian parks his ass in a car, some one is being displaced by mining activities.

No one can stop development but if we are more sensitive to the use of scarce resources which are being over exploited, then there is hope of equitable balance.

We are more than 5000 year old civilization having evidence of rich metallurgical use and ore extraction in the past but there were no problems and agitations then because economy and development was NEED based and not today's GREED based American type over exploitation that has caused so many to be chased from their lands and so much inequalities.

so resolve to consume less at least before shedding crocodile tears for the displaced

Rightly said, we are rich in resources and compared to our population we are very poor... so everyone should think about saving and safeguarding their environment before driving Cars, using AC's etc...

"Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had led the agitation, now plans to start a rail coach factory at the same site after the West Bengal hand over 400 acres to the unwilling farmers. Around 55 vendors associated with the Nano project had signed individual lease agreements with the West Bengal government".

what is the difference betwen the tata nano factory and the rail coach factory? both are industries onlies one PSY and the other in Private sector!

how many jobs can be created with the land of the 400 farmers? what would have been the employment generated had the nano factory srarted operation in full swing?

When somebody comes and kicks you out of your own house and tells you this will create 10,000 jobs - if you willingly sacrifice, then only speak in favor of Nano project.

Dhruva,

There is just no equality or justice in Indian systems. You have laws that only a failed state or banana state can have. Then we have wonderful castist reservations from govt jobs to almost everything. We have politicians who want to make wealth for atleast 1000 generations. The system is perverted, the people perverted and sometimes outright stupid and the nation? My India is great..

All the the roads, railway lines, airports in public sector, and the schools and colleges, hospitals, several industries in private and public sectors that provide cement, steel, two wheelers etc. and several essential services were were agricultural lands owned by individual farmers. is that the generations who gave away their lands in earlier period were fools?

Mr. Raman Govindan, I agree with you that old generations have given their precious land for setting up the factories of cement, steel, 2 / 3 / 4 whellers. But at the same time, we also need agricultural land, to survive. Otherwise, it will become concrete jungle.

Best Cities

I have lived in Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, but I rate Lucknow much ahead of all these cities. People respect outsiders here whereas in Chennai they want you to learn Tamil which is not asked for here in Lucknow. Where is the shortage for good education in Lucknow? The city is good and there is even good job opportunity. I rate Lucknow ahead of Chennai and I would rather ride a bike to office than take that cramped local train in Mumbai.

Land Acquisition
by Dominic Johnson on Jun 03, 2010 11:36 AM  | Hide replies

Land Acquisition should be made very attractive from the part of the person whose land is being acquired. The only solution is to give ample and more compensation. If a person's 10 cents along with residential house is acquired, he MUST be rehabilitated in a specially made housing colony by allocating 20 cents and giving double the amount for constructing a house which he has owned earlier. THEN PEOPLE WILL SAY THAT LET MY LAND BE ACQUIRED. Government must do some schemes like this for rehabilitation of people.
