Myth about agri land
by bevarsi soolemaga on Jun 13, 2010 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

There is no shortage of agricultural land. There is 24 crore acres of land under agriculture.
A few lakh acres given For SEZ wont make any difference.

Why you need agricultural land for SEZs? Why dont you go to arrid lands. The industrialists need fertile lands close to sea, river or capital cities and the govt takes over the land on govt rate which is much much low than the market price. So they refuse to part with. Then govt applies force, politicians come into the support of the poor farmers. This is very very bad. Ther is lot of infertile lands in every state there only these sezs ,industries to be constructed.

LAND OUSTEES ARE DOOMED TO SUFFER IN CITY SLUMS
by SR Bhardwaj on Jun 12, 2010 05:17 PM

Bhakra Dam was set up about 60 years back and about 200 villages were shifted to Rajasthan. After sixty years, there is hardly a single family which has settled down in Rajasthan. The reason being harsh weather , different culture and exploitation by local elements. They are all now slum dwellers in Delhi and other cities of India. Nobody talks about them. Bhakra oustees are victims of faulty development pattern of India. Same is the story of Pong Dam oustees. While the beneficiary States of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are getting power at less than ten paise per unit, nobody talks about the innocent villagers of two hundred villages of Himachal Pradesh. In fact, the Government approach towards Bhakra oustees set the trend of callousness of Government towards land oustees in the country. God save the poor villagers because Government has no consideration for people as has happened in the case of Bhopal victims.

we all forget the basics of life - where do we get the food on our plates from ??? not from industries or electtornics or automobile or computers....it comes from the land..and ignoring such basic need will lead to nothing but disaster..

India needs inclusive development and agriculture is a real need to feed the billion...if the goct ignores the needs of millions of poor farmers for the benefit of few industrialists, we all would be facing civil unrest for decades...naxalism and maoism feeds on such anger...and people like Arundhati Roy are real heroes to bring such facts to the media which is otherwise chasing the rich and famous...

Also look at brighter side of land acquisition.
by indian soldier on Jun 07, 2010 01:58 AM

Maharashtra today take pride in being creating so many jobs and wealth for family. How has it happened ? Initially villagers hated giving land to multinationals and business houses. they lived in poverty, violance and disease. Today their areas has grown so much income has gone up, life standard has gone up at the same time they celeberate their local cutluter. since no business men want to ruin the culture. what for ? they want happy people who work, imporve job skills thats all.
India cant get rid of poverty unless we support SEZ, infrastructure. Land acquisition is part of the deal. Curruption is everywhere. does not mean all private company just loot and dont give back.
Its high time we wake up or most of indian will keep living in jungle raaj for century. you go to rural area and see for yourself how much people suffer because of violance, disease, lack of health.

Industrilization or no-industrilization
by Amreesh Reddy on Jun 06, 2010 11:35 PM

Many times we want the projects on the other peoples lands (or on the otherside of the river), so that we can get the job for ourself and for our kids.

There should be proper guidlines what exactly we are trying to achive through industrilization. There will be always gains and losses if we try to achive something. We can always have a win-win situtation for everyine if everthing is done in a co-ordinated and co-operative manner.

Can you just tell me where exactly and to whom you are working? It must be surely for one of the businessman, which must be paying you a fat salary to take a good care of yourself and of your family.

You should be actually thankful for we having this kind of people around so that you, me and many more can leave a decent life.

But how do we achive that? Should be try and take a big jump and cover all the 100%. No intermittent steps. So that one fine day you get up and you see everything and everyone is developed. Do you think that this is possible?
