I feel the national carrier should be privatised. then only it's employees who are getting a hefty salary, comparing to the work what they do will understand.
Then only the things will improve or else they will take it granted for everything and least bother about the passengers and country.

by samir jain on May 26, 2010 09:55 AM

While, the action of AI employees is not acceptable, but, strike culture has starts from parliament.
They never allow the scheudled work to take place on some pretext or other and if opposed they go in well or walk out and parliament is adjourned.

AI employees are so arrogant because they know their jobs are secure cause of their union and the govt will never shut down its own means of indulgence in AI no matter how much the losses..

Myth About private firms is that they operate on private maoney, but reality is that they also run on public (shareholder) money. All these gift and comfort Ambanis and others give and take is from public money itself. and they don;t have any control how much they loot from public money

inspite of many brand new aircraft.. AI problems wont go away.. and its a shame.. because the new aircraft are gr8.. but its the management n service which make the difference and poor management n service cannot save an airline even with new planes..like air india..
even comfortable aircraft n good food cannot make up for poor service n management of AI

add to that ministers are asking other govt emplyees to fly by only indian flights. pay the tax and then add to enjury is wait and watch as u can,t take other flights too, which are operating at right time schedules. good managment. i propose govt sjould ask other air operators to pay haveavy taxes , so that they also close flying and then the whole country will enjoy..

many govt run airlines are just politicians private transport to enjoy first n business class free travel and throw their weight around..
even JAL in an advanced and efficient country like japan has struggled to stay afloat due to govt whims..
In india.. anything the govt touches turns rots away..
if AI was run by tatas till today.. it would be the world's leading airline..
same with indian sport.. the day it is free from govt ownership..we will win many medals

AIR INDIA IS A CHRONIC SICK AIRLINE. MOST OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE THIEVES WHO PILFER EVEN CUTLERY AND TOILETRY. THE CREW MANY TIMES ARE INVOLVED IN SMUGGLING OF BULLION AND NARCOTICS. DUE TO PAMPERING OF THE STAFF AND GOVERNMENT'S UNWANTED INTERFERENCE AT EVERY STAGE, THEY HAVE BECOME INCORRIGIBLE AND IT IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THE AIRLINE TURN AROUND DESPITE PUMPING FUNDS AT THE COST OF TAX PAYERS.
IT IS HIGH TIME THAT IT SHOULD BE HANDED OVER TO TATAS WHO ORIGINALLY OWN THIS AIRLINE TO MAKE IT A PROFITABLE VENTURE.

True..
AI Staff is worst amongst all. they donot have any courtesy towards the customer and they are autocratic type. Govt is increasing taxes on consumers and citizents to safeguard such autocratic and loss making organisations which are failures due to govt. itself. shame on Govt

well.. main prob in india is the high cost of ATF.due to state tax n duties. which is way to high..to allow airlines to make profits.. n even more for full fare airlines like KF and 9W with additional operating costs..

and the throwaway fares between 2002 to 2007 or so hurt airlines big time..
airlines in india are still treated like a luxury as in the 80s n 90s rather than like a necessity..
with high landing charges, fuel tax, aircraft duty..etc..

as for KF and 9W..they have been far more reliable and offer great service.. KF is one of the very few 5 star airlines in the world..with amazing service.

Most of the world's leading carriers are reporting losses like BA, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, but these are due to the recession world over, unlike corruption, nepotism, unprofessionalism etc in Air India!
