Analyze This...

Almost all Indians, leaving out a handful who barely even know that they are alive, would agree that there is something wrong with this country and almost all of them would blame the politicians. Why? Because that is the easiest.

Politics ruined India.
by anwarhatela on Mar 28, 2010 12:27 PM  | Hide replies

It is a truth that politicians have ruined India more than britishers and other emperors. These Poilticians have no conscience. Each politician in India makes hundreds and thousands of crores by corruption and then they deposit it is swiss banks. It is the public of India which is being folled by these politicians when it votes. These politicians r playing the game of divide and rule. they r trying to divide hindus, muslims and people living in different states of India. Its really a pity that the culture of flattery is still prevalent in India and a rich persons r only considered successful in iNDIA. gone r the days when SC bose, Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and so many other freedom fighters who gave their life selflessly for the country were considered heroes.

Undelying reality
by arvind kumar on Mar 28, 2010 12:25 PM  | Hide replies

We need to look out the truthness & the signs of the message.

There is no sign of recession feeling in India except the IT sector. Country is growing at a tremendous rate. In earlier days, India used to spend more investments on its weaponry. Now, the country has initiated the investments in many large- and medium-scale infrastructure projects at state and federal level.

There are two kind of people who can be hungry now. 1) the people who cannot perform the activities such as Physically/Mentally challenged, old aged and so on, 2)The people who are really lazy. The first category should be taken care by the society & the government. The second category of people should take care themselves.

Bhutan GDP grew at 21 %, Ethiopia grew at 12% , Rwanda grew at 11 % . China and India grew at 9% and 7 % respectively last year . Does that mean everyone desires to go and find opportunities in Bhutan, Ethiopia or Rwanda? India’s growth is of any consequence only to those who employ capital and look for a good ROI. In other words, investors who put in their own money. That is why most silicon valley VC partners now have their pooled money invested in India but do not and will not live in India. For the average person in the street , GDP growth means NOTHING. For the average person, the only thing that matters is PER CAPITA income i.e the money that person makes every year and not the sum total of all goods and services produced. And in this measure, India fares better than only a handful of very poor countries in the world . So, you can do the math. We have to raise our per capita income from $2700 to $10,500 to match today’s South Africa and to $47 – $50,000 tomatch today’s USA or Singapore . In other words, we have to raise an average person’s income by 20 times to match the standard of living that an average person has in USA or Singapore TODAY.

This is may be one of the many reasons. We have weak people (old men and women) whose number may be more than 30% of the population, given the percentage of women population. We have more than half of women of whom many women may not be doing any kind of work to generate income. Secondly children. However, all this should not be allow to hinder our progress. We should find way to employ more women. Next, govt should spend more on infrastructure whereby employment can be generated. All the shining progress we brag of is due to the private sector investment and making money without executing social responsibilities. We cannot allow ourselves to be carried away by such fallacious growth statistics. In India government alone can do something radically. It should recover all the debts big industrial houses have taken; it should make sure that the amount outlaid is fully utilized (I heard at out of Rs 100 only Rs 20-25 being spending on govt PWD works); govt immediately allow social audit, etc. I would also appeal to all the people who have the wherewithal to adopt one village each and focus on its all kinds of welfare. Something should be done without further delay.

And in the midst of plenty food, charlatanry!
by Ramaswami Kumar on Mar 28, 2010 12:22 PM

The ENCODE and GRID Project results(2009ff) have shown the fundamentally flawed approach to health by modern civilisation. Today the central dogma of molecular biology has been turned on its head with junk material being found to be essential in biological and in fact total expression of life(In nature nothing is ever wasted). My God, all this while nature was working while the specialists revelled in deep ignorance of nature's workings and formed their policies on that imperfect basis!
And still are. The concept of substantial equivalence of traditional and GM foods has been proved to be scientifically unsupportable. But who pays for the damages and irreversible changes brought about by modern civilisation's protagonists? Stop this madness. My bread is being contaminated with soya flour and I do not know whether its GM! See wisdom in designing around your ignorance so life can be healthy now! You must return all that you took from nature in a covertible useful form because the microdetails will never be known because everything is interconnected with all else. Thats the wisdom of tradition. But if you contaminate with GM trash, return will perhaps have a positive feedback which will ensure extinction by devastation of biodiversity and diseases. Imititate nature beyond understanding. Breeding cross in like species has worked wonders. Instead of wasting good food have equitable egalitarian just distribution. We have enough food and India does not need this erroneous approach

But IPL is billion Dollar Tournament
by bharatpremi on Mar 28, 2010 12:19 PM

It is the same country where in a IPL match daily a player gets 1 lakh Rupees each for Man of the Match, Maximum Sixes and Fielding Catch not to speak of about 6000 crore invested in IPL franchise. In IPL value of 1 lakh Rs seems less than paise , the way it is spent!!
