The solution for organised retailers is to create retail markets. One way to do it is to go into housing. In an estate of at least 10,000 homes, you could have a mall for a large supermarket, medical and dental services, pharmacies, hairstylists and beauticians and any other services. There should not be any provision for mom and pop set-up. Besides these, there should also be provision for schools, petrol kiosk, sports facilities etc.
What India needs is set-ups like Wall-mart in the US. The common man in India will benefit. What is happening now is the common man is paying to a chain of handlers for his needs. Why should the common man be made to do this?
1. bureaucracy 2. corruption 3. crime against women 4. religious fundamentalism 5. behaviour and attitude of today's youth 6. harassment by govt servants 7. land mafia and many more.
out of these, lets pick out the common problems, address it first and then take on problems related to particular groups and comunity.
for ex, corruption, bureaucracy, crime are common problems for all citizens..once these are eliminated, all other issues will die on its own...am sure the world knows about our issues..instead of blindly donating funds, let them come forward and put conditions to our politicians to weed out these common problems by saying that, unless you wipe this out, we wont donate...am sure that day is not far off..

YOU ARE RIGHT, GOVT EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE. STRICTER LAWS NEED TO BE ENACTED AGAINST CORRUPTION BY GOVT EMPLOYEES.

- red tape & private toll points for business, or any aspect of life (corruption) - crime against women, no women empowerment, discrimination - religious, caste based and linguistic bias - land mafia, massive endemic corruption at the door step of political parties - fundamental lack of governance

"crime against women" is selective .It would have been an INTEGER had "cime against humanity" been chosen over the above. don't try to project frails as sacrosanct.

I don't get you at all ! Maybe, my intellect is far inferior to yours ! That could be the reason !
companies like monsanto are preferred by the multinationals and large indian companies. because monsanto does whatever the mncs want and also the dirty work at any cost.
so far the new age agri (after the green revolution) biodiversity is whittling and the only impact monsanto had is of farmers being ensalved to the coprporations
With foreigners watching corruption,Khap panchayat,Honour killings and Govt's unwilling ness to act,to say that india's respect is going up is CRUEL JOKE.
Re: nonsense

Re: nonsense
by wizardo id on Jun 30, 2010 09:45 AM
no, all this will be part of the growing up experience. backwardness does not go without resistance. in fact more such cases come to the fore - the better- at least the system will have to deal with it directly.
Respect to Indian? that's a joke. Articles like these should be preceded by a warning like in cigarette packs. Warning (skull and crossbones): Self laudatory note, this can kill

Obama praised MMS.See the sinister design behind all moves of west &USA. They destroyed USSR without firing single bullet. They praised M.Gorbochov to destroy USSR.Gave him NobelPrize. No wonder, they will give to MMS alos. They will destroy India also. They are after India because of middle class.MMS & team is bent upon reducing their spending power by price rise of evverything. There is no respect for Indians. Businesman are after money only, they dont have any love for people of India& no social responsibility.Bhay ho not Jai Ho.
The respect we command is because, 1 The atomic test carried out by Vajpayee govt 2 Liberalisation by PVN Rao 3 The population - the market opportunity

Please dont talk garbage here!! Bomb testing dont earn any respect - moron. The former soviet empire had largest pile of nukes but they were branded as evil empire and we saw that when they fell into pieces. To earn respect you have to feed all your 1.5 billin people and give them adequate health care and clean drinking water with functional judiciary system - then we will earn respect!

If detonating a Bomb can bring respect then Pakistan, South Korea, Libya, and Ian could have garnered some respected also. With all respect to the scientists and Mr. Vajpayee I can only say Atomic bomb has no way improve ones standing in world. Today’s scenario can just be summed up with the eloquent words of Dr. Singh "You can not stop something whose time has come."

The atomic test carried out by Vajpayee govt-It was failure accrding to nuclear scientist,Except APJ Abdul Kalam(Who is a rocket scientist).Really first atomic test carried out by Indira Gandhi in 1975 at Pokharan.People stiil remember Vajpayee government for Kandhahar and Gujarat riots, just like people remember Rajiv Gandhi for Anti-sikh riots and Bhopal tragedy

even if it were a failure, we have the benefits of it. and by the way - vajapayee only went ahead with the decision. the above said failure is only to do with the scientists. even indira had a dud other than sanjay gandhi :P

many times the jokes are played by chinese bloggers, who get paid for any disturbing messages posted in indian blogs.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: How was it possible?

actually, im perenially confused with lot of rediff posters (rather imposters - many of whom are bloggers from china) so forgive me if yu are very much an indian. points of view differ and thats part of a democracy, but not paid bloggers from china or trolls from pakistan! if you see rediff's visitors a large number of it is from china. india does not have a sizeable expatriate/ nri population in china. only confirms my suspicion of chinese fidhing in troubled waters
