Who said needle is moving in right direction?
by srik on Jun 30, 2010 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

I may city there were really good theatres and few which were old but all sold the hightst tickets at 50. Now with opening up of Multiplexes the minimum ticket is 100 and there is no difference in audio/video or seating quality. They are simply buying up theatres and reconstructing them. Now for a normal person there is no decent theatre left in my city. It is only telecom which has resulted in reduction of prices. Aviation was a result of Captain Gopinath, but kingfisher with it deep pockets has engulfed it and AI is screwing up because of unrealistic schedules and pathetic customer care.

More over, unlike retail in Telecom and Aviation which were quoted as examples wern't operated by house holds. But retail is a different ball game, due to their scale they will first kill the unorganised sector and then dictate prices. As it is being done right now. To reduce the wastage Government can take up the task of providing the infrastructure for cold storages, cold containers and warehouses.

Your figure is grossly over rated and wrong! Come on know it well when speaking about the thing like "third most clean", "Best in honesty", "cheapest food cost". You will never understand this unless you go outside India. Anyway, its good that you don't know much about the world in real terms else you would have been quite irritated with even the simplest and basic thing in India is not done in the way it should be.

But having said that all I also dream for India to catch up with the rest of world. If not in anything else then at least start realizing that inspite of having talent why we are so much behind in even the basic things.

When BJP announced India Shining, Congress cried hoarsely, now Congress is declaring the same message !!
1. Dunno
2. Must be dreaming since Congress is synonym for dishonesty
3. Must be self-deceiving, we can't even stop Maoists !
4. Yes, all the corruption cases have been cleaned out with culprits running away to Malaysia and South America !
5. Just go to Mumbai and see the AIDS in action
6. Yes and no one is allowed to dispute this !
7. Must be joking, right ? Both are not looking at each other, in the first place !
8. When you compare the coffee prices in Rs, you should also be comparing income in Rs terms, right ? Just the other day, petrol prices have jumped up, hence inflation will be skyrocketing again !

We do not want anything else, bcz we're already dead-beaten into numbness !!

Few rich NRIs have certainly started commanding more respect but when it comes to Indians in general, they are still treated with contempt fit for citizens of a poor country.

'The respect India commands today is fantastic'
by raman govindan on Jun 30, 2010 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

i doubt whether the statement is true!

we should welcome the initiative taken up by the industrialist and business men to augument the social and resources wealth of nation.

but the nation will draw respect in international arena only when all the citizens are educated, health and poverty and hunger reduced. simple yard stick as per my idea is that the poorest 10 % of the population earn atleat 5 dollar per head per day subject to inflation. and slums in mumbai and chennai, kolkutta, New Delhi and several other places disappear by providing better accommodation and other urban facitities.

Who says "India is dictating terms to the rest of world"? Have you ever been outside India. If not then I would recommend go and experience what reputation India is having outside their world. Being an Indian I would not like to say it from my mouth though. Its like spitting on your own face.Don't get too carried away by these exaggerated news. Don't you that News agencies are the biggest misleaders today?

india commanding respect...
by sudhir sood on Jun 30, 2010 09:54 AM  | Hide replies

stop this pseudo respect; millions are suffering and more are being added to this total every day and we are living in a fools paradise and deliberately deceiving ourselves that we are being respected by the world; true respect is when it comes from your own people and not improted from abroad; not 1% of indians give the government any credit or respect. pathetic.

you are totally mistaken Mr Paul. Not even UPA is responsible for the so called growth. Mind you "India grows not because of its government but in spite of it".And coming to the riots case there were more communal rite during the congress rule than the BJP and most of them ghastly ones.
