Great speech by a great man. Bring more articles like this instead of political drama. Every person has something to learn from Mr. Jobs life journey.

no really. its only apple fans who have opined here. there's 2 sides to a coin. there'd be a can of worms opened if any non apple fan were to visit these forums.

its not all rosy in steve job's products. if you see most forums in the USa, you'd know how much of a trouble apple is in with its policies and pricing and just about every aspect of apple products.

- high profitability (and yet not sharing it with foxconn's employees and the fact that apple products are being made in terrible sweatshops )
- apple's ecosystem will be beaten soon by android for the simple fact that developers and people who care dont like the walled garden approach by jobs
- adobe claiming that flash is a cpu hog when in reality it was apple who closed the gpu to flash thus making flash cpu hungry.

you know that things are rotten, but steve - the man- jobs likes to give a positive spin to everything, and the media laps it all up!

one subtle fact about innovation:
innovation is what you think is new. Not what the world thinks is new.

true. apple hasnt innovated nearly any of those products, they all existed before, theyve patented small change around it - like multi touch was there before, capacitive screens were there before. just abt all aspects of iphone was there before, yet they claim each and every feature of their phones to be innovative. or like they use the word "magical" a hundred times in their PR shows.

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower,
by raj on Jun 18, 2010 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

This sums up where USA is and where we in India are..

this statement sums up who and why USA is the leader and why India depends in US for IT jobs -- because USA has innovation. Innovation separated USA and India ( as leader and follower)

Hope our IT workers are listening..

"working for a small startup doing innovation is still better than working for a large outsourcing company - that is my view"

This is NOT the reason India is backward.
We have very less land and more population. India cannot afford much money for Innovation

steve jobs is a supreme marketing guy, less of an innovator. he's given what the market wanted in a shiny sugary gooey cover which people love so much.

none of our top IT company has a world class product like say photoshop/ word/ excel/ etc. because we are good at the internals, but we are slowly getting there with products. it will take time. as a country we grew confident only recently. in time we will certainly be counted amongst the top

innovation is really required in India and that needs Govt. funding/subsidising research projects so that brainy people can lead a good life by doing that.
