Getting a symbol wont change things around dramatically,A rupee symbol is not going to change anything,40% people would still be poor, and it wont be popular as a dollar or a euro/pound.

Who said everything have to be done to keep poors in mind? If this does not affect the poors adversly what is your problem? There are many programs designed to help poors. Please don't try to sound idealistic or a being of higher understanding.

40% people would still be poor and whose fault is it,It is not governments it is there own making.
I agree with acharya ram that it does not require IITian to create the symbol. It is too simplistic and it does not reflect indian history and culture in any way. Ministry should be forced to conduct this contest once again but in a transparent manner.

true..just a simple hindi "Ra" with 2 parallel lines at the top. Whats the big deal and fuss about Udaykumar designing it.
