I don't belong to any political party and I would like to remind people that it is the PEOPLE of this country who elect their government. If people are not happy with Cong, BJP,BSP or CPM or whatever, why are they getting elected? Only losers try to ridicule winners with lame excuses. We all have a choice to elect the best people. If we elect the wrong one, we must suffer and that is what is called democracy. Always remember..WE have a choice and use it or lose it. Don't blame others for your folly. If Cong, after 60 odd years rule in India could not change the situation, why are we electing them again and again...?

Tom Dick, Has it ever occured to you that there's NO ONE that fits in the "best people" category that warrants our votes? I wonder why people even bother to vote when all we have is parties of goons; each progressively worse than the other.

Nita..I totally agree with you but my point is if we can't get the best, then we have to live with what we get? That is an unfortunate situation. Why do we get goons? Because no one else is coming to challenge them and they get fattened on the blood of the poor.

Democracy is NOT ONLY about elections, that is the peculiarly Indian interpretation of democracy. Otherwise, as is happening in India, once elected for 5 years a politician of ANY PARTY, can go on amassing ill gotten wealth for four years and put up a facade in the last year.
Democracy has to supported by other institutions of accountability.

We are ready to elect eminent scientists,scholors,technocrats,economists but they don't come to politics.We BEGGARS ARE NOT CHOOSERS.
Main cause of more poor people in UP, Bihar and We in illiteracy and population. corrupted Politicians are not producing 10 kids on each UP, Bihar and West bengal houses.

The only thing that can save us when we leave our religion in our bed room or Pooja room of our house and work towards progress without thinking about religion, cast creed,region, state etc. Boycott people who try to create hate between people in the name of religion and we all will be saved for ever!
One more revolution is required for taking out all the money from the Indian Politicians. The Politicians are thinking that India and India’s wealth belong to them only. They calculate each and everything as how they can seize the money for their Family members at least for another 20 generation to live so luxuriously. Voters are not worried for the politicians and they care for just small amount of money (Rs 50/- to Rs3000/- per 5 years term) and elect the people. This system of converting the poverty into power, should be changed. Voting should be compulsory for all Indians. Present scenario is, lesser % of voters are ruling the higher % of non –voters, in India. The Politicians are announcing the voters that they will provide free Small TV, 1Kg Rice for 1 Rupee, etc., . Why this type of low quality items, should be given, if everybody is reasonably good economically. All the Money of all corrupted Politicians, should be reused for the development of India. How much money was playing in purchasing the Team, more than playing Cricket Matches in India. Can we imagine that we Indians are living below Poverty line than Africans? Where from the huge money came? The other evil thing, we have to eradicate from Indian Society is Caste. In the name of Caste only, the Politicians are trying to divide and rule India. The reason for the sorry state of affairs is...."that we indians are the most selfish people in the entire world" ...its a bitter pill..but that's the truth..sorry..
The reason for electing political parties to power other than congress in these states is because poor people are innocent and easily could be fooled by promising good governance. Especially regional parties in these states do not allow people to improve their earning and lifestyle.
The entire Eastern INDIA comprising BIHAR(jHARKAND was once part of BIHAR),WB, ORISSA, MP(including CHTTISGHAD),as per this is the majpority poorest part of INDIA. One can see this if you travel in the train. Denisity of population,illetaracy,away from English language,Caste politics and many many like that contribute for this. Surprising is that this part of land is blessed with Rivers,fertile lands, Mines, Metals etc. People, not leaders, should seriously think about this.

These places as referred to you is also a place of origination of many religions like Buddhism, Holy Places of Hinduism, Jainism etc. Please don't say that people of these states are away from ENGLISH! Things have changed a lot in past decade, people here also take Education very seriously as they think that only education can save them as it only gives them opportunity to grow. PEOPLE are educated and things now ic changing... BIHAR has changed a lot in past 5 years......... Only a thing that these states don't are industrial hubs...... and visionary leaders... but we don't have a VISIONARY Leader of all INDIA appeal also........ This thing we lament.....
