I am acared

I am actually very scared after reading this.It has started with brinjal, I don't know if they start producing other vegetables with this technology. It's just so irrisponsible of our Govt. to introduce such a killer method of producing crops in our country, that too without any full proof test or high quality test.I think unlike us,our ministers feeds on notes and thats what they are getting in tonnes from the MNCs like Monsanto. The best we can do is stop buying the BT brinjal.

Govt never behaved responsibly. Yes Brinajal is just the start. There objective is get rid off all the varieties of vegitables in our country and establish monopoly over seeds. In india there are more than 1500 varieties of brinjal.. lets not loose them at any cost.

India's main opposition has sided with the environmentalists!

Is it possible to make this into an election issue? We sure don't need these fireign companies selling monster seeds into our country?

Creating disease is not scientific advance. Profit at any cost is not right.

Monsanto-Mayco are smart ppl. Before bringing the BT-Brinjal to public they bribed BJP handsomely.... Few days back I saw this article on rediff itself stating Monstao ppl did visit BJP leaders.

BJP is not doing a job of opposition at all.. they are paid well to there mouth shut.

BJP miserably failed to raise the issue of price raise...etc.. I feel CPM does a better job as Opposition party. I am not admirer of communism, CPM did warn abt the nexus between MNC's and congress/bjp. What ever they said its happening...

Monsoto visiting BJP does not necessarily mean BJP sided with them. BJP and environmental minister Ramesh have been opposed to this.

It is important that we keep this monsoto and any company that claims to improve productivity but does not care to do atleast a decade of studies proving these crops are safe!

It is important that we choose only people that support protecting the freedom of indian consumers and farmers.

If Manmohan singh;s gov. wants to kiss the ask of a foreign company that is driven by profit as a motive. then they will fall.

No way. Have you seen media printing anything anti govt. Price rise is killing people. Media is slient. Indian media is bought from top to bottom by politicians.

In earlier days, Indian media used to anti govt irrespective of who is ruling. Nowadays, media support one party whether they r in power or out of it.

Bt brinjal causes impotency
by Aftab Kamal on Jan 31, 2010 11:19 PM  | Hide replies

Bt Brinjal has the potential to cause impotency in men and sterility in women.Scientific studies on white rats under laboratory conditions have proved beyond doubt.
Bt Brinjal could be used as a good population control tool. But how wonderful it would have been ....had it been served in good measure to the parents of our now Great Monsanto dicksucker Jairam Ramesh

Genetically engineered all crops r to be banned, specially which have "Terminating Gene". Otherwise more & more farmers will commit suicide. It terminates the next generation itself and the neighboring traditional crops of same family. It has an impact - the farmers r bound to purchase the seed from the multinational companies at a very high cost who has license to produces the seeds.

Bt Brinjan
by Aftab Kamal on Jan 31, 2010 11:15 PM  | Hide replies

India should make it mandatory for all Politicians and President of India to be fed on Bt Brinjal for 10 years. After which, the results can be analysed.
However, the fears remain....whether Bt Brinjal would be toxic to these great men running the country or the other way round. They may be too toxic an environment for the Bt strain to survive.

I proposed a similar idea sometimes back. It is a reasonable idea as these politicians are making decisions for the public.

I'll include their families as well.

Toxin levels high in Genetic crops
by true tamilan on Jan 31, 2010 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Pawar as Agriculture minister is the worst thing to happen in Independent India.

- Toxin levels are higher in Genetically modified crop

- GM seeds cause new pests to be generated

- Initially, yield is higher, once the pests develop immunity to GM seeds, then it is as good as natural crops as far as protection against crops is concerned.

- CCD in bees which is a new pheonmena coincided with introduction of GM seeds in USA

- Few MNCs will control food market in the entire world. Especially, India cannot afford this to happen

If Congress and Manmohan intends to anything good for india, it is to get rid of these pests like Monsota who are hell bent of making profits at the cost of human health.

Their policy is to introduce food that causes disease. That brings profits to hospitals and then the health insurance company!

Every indian that wants his or her children to live a long life must oppose these monsters.

We want the public to know who is in this committee that is trying to sell foriegn seeds to indian farmers.

Genetically modified crops add more profit to these monsters liKE Monsato and as the expense of the unsuspecting indian public.

You need to raise your voice - even if it s asingle email to get behind the environmentalists, so we can all eat food that is safe and sound.

Bt.Brinjal
by Krishna Krishna on Jan 31, 2010 06:31 PM

Already Tamilnadu has repoted brinjal yield of over 300 tons/ha/yr,with crop spread out for 11 months. So,what more yields would Bt.Brinjal give?Further, the toxin levels are 4 times more in Bt.Brinjal than what the human body can assimilate.Clearly the writing is on the wall. The government has to enquire on what circumstance that such deadly vegetables are being released.Do they think the consumers are not aware of corruption at high places?
