india vs china
by biswanath roy on Jan 26, 2010 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

unfortunately the indian leaders(mms, pchidam, sibbal) bureaucrats(montek, former nsa mishra)and the corporate sector(tata, bhati airtel, infosys) have been fed on a dream by usa that they will do all possible to keep india propped up against china, with the result the indians ie the above mentioned(actual decision makers),are in a sleeping mode, due to their american masters above assurances. moreover india never tried to enter the latin american, african(with the exception of south africa)markets, whereas china had entered these markets 20-25 years back, and the result is for everyone to see:- markets flooded with chinese goods, chinese cars and motorbikes on african and latin american roads. india kept its business only with usa,uk,middle east, australia, some western european countries,& japan. the superiority complex that indians project on africans and some latinos is also a reason why indians are not liked in these two continents. mms has to come out of his stage of kowtowing to usa, and become more assertive, and india should take the lead to project itself as an asian power and not a sycophant of the americans.

India will never learn. basically Indians are snobs. That is what is reflected by congi leaders. They combine snobbery with Pseudo Gandhian ideology. that is enough to make the whole world hate and disrespect us us. Our politicians have no clue of the world.

absolutely, biswanathji! At a cii conference on partnership in b'lore, 2 years ago, deepak patel ex-minister of zambia said that the cii document mentioned africa only twice and only for trade. No mention of investment. "How do u expect to get natural resources for ur 9% growth without africa?" he asked. And it is not us or china but india that has the best people-linkages with africa and mideast. Gujjus and sindhis and others are very influential in africa and we only have to tap these links. But our corporate fatcats are drooling and gazing at the west

The IIT and IAM guys are like products from a sausage industry. All snobs with Pseudo Gandhian ideology with out any innovations. Thisi sthe kind of youngsters we have in India who are white in side and brown outside( some may argue that they are very fair). You cant expect them to think like pragmatic chinese who know when to be humble and when to be ruthless and aggressive. Our leaders are either criminals or spineless snobby products from ST Stephans college like Tharoor, Sibal and mani Shanker Iyer with pseudo secular and pseudo Gandhian values. Right thinking middle class is not represented in the GOVT unlike China.

China is a superpower
by Ravi Embar on Jan 25, 2010 06:26 AM  | Hide replies

China is excelling in every field - start with the great Olympics spectacle - unmatched and probable will not be surpassed by any other country. Space - China is one of three countries (USA, Russia) to have sent a man into space on the space shuttle. Chinese goods are flooding the markets in all countries of the world including India. China has already launched into the software business thanks to tie-ups with Indian firms and will soon become a strong competitor for the same business. China has raised the standard of living for most of its poor people while India can boast of a growing middle class of 50 million while hundreds of million Indians remain mired in poverty. India has people living on the streets and in slums in many major cities. Chinese cities are modern metropolises with some having the most advanced bullet trains in service. China has Hong Kong and Macau in addition to its own export processing zones in several regions. In almost every indicator, China is ahead of India. India has democracy - this is something the West values while many countries conduct business with China. It is only now that the West has realized that China is going to become the dominant power that there has been a belated rush to curry India's favor. India will be a superpower decades after China. India should focus on eliminating poverty, corruption, disease, illiteracy, pollution, ethnic and sectarian strife, bloated defense spending and low standard of living first.

becomes a global superpower or not, India will definitely never become. The biggest problem of India is Indians themselves , who are undoubtedly the most c0_rr_upt living creatures in the universe.
