100 % true!
Sweat & Blood remittances sent back by the diaspora is, in a round-about way (Global currencies are confiscated by govt. through banks and 'paper money' given to foreign currency recipients like family and friends).
Also, Indian remittances are not commensurate with neighboring Pakistan. The ratio of India-Pak in most metrics like population is 10-1.
Pak remittances are about $ 10 Billion. So Indian remittances should logically be:
$ 10 Billion x 10 = $ 100 Billion.
But the future is bright. IT outsourcing alone is making $ 75 Billion approx.
NRIs are sending more money back home because Indan economy is booming and developed countries are in recession and NRIs don't have job security in developed countries.
