Agreed. but no one in the world could do this at this price. if this is so easy, why the likes of Dell/HP/Toshiba etc not doing it? whats stopping them?

Do you think, all the parts, processor, screen backlight,browser are made exclusively by apple. they also purchase from some US company. So they are also doing nothing new. Do you know the meaning of innovation. Innovation is not creating new things, but to bring new things with existing ones. what they have done is to bring the best of the world in one pack that too cost effective. Just appreciate them.

Well Dell/HP/Toshiba spend a huge amount in publicity and then giving 24hour customer support. The ADAM team is new and really don't have a big team that could give that kind of support. Maybe they might get a venture captalist to invest in, and as soon as that happens and they start thinking of business the price will go up. As far as Apple iPad, much hyped by Apple and priced higher as all the Apple products are.

At first I thought to ignore your message, but it appears that you are a illiterate porki, trying to pass yourself on as an Indian management consultant...So let's come to the point Mr.Porki...Compaq, Lenovo, Dell, Toshiba etc.-No body manufactures the Microprocessor(Intel/AMD does), Hard drive-(Seagate etc), RAM(Samsung,Toshiba), display driver(Nvidia-not Navidia you SOB) etc. So, you see dumbo, in your definition even you can do it(Being an illiterate). Don't stretch your peanut sized brain for things which are beyond the realm of your intellect...BTW, Michael Dell of Dell computers started off by assembling computers..dell computers continued to be known as 'Box Pushers' long after they became public and a billion dollars company.

Good Point!, I would appreciate more if I can see a fully IIT made OS in a completely Indigenous hardware. There is a problem here: IITians are in such high pressure to academically perform that they loose their innovative power and spend their energy in getting higher points in exams. So bringing a OS by themselves is far from reality. I bet that No Indian company has the funding, time and free willed people to bring out a OS like android and compete with the world market.No cheating you must not take a Linux distro and put your skin over it and show it as your own invention, I want something from scratch. We have to agree on the fact that culture also plays a great role in innovation, US and other countries accept a person as they are and never see their education. That is how many projects like Firefox has school kids working as leads in them. In India people will take you in if only you are academically brilliant. There are lots of uneducated innovators in India who never got an opportunity to come up.
Of course there are $100 - $200 priced android based hardware like what these guys have done available now in the market. I am skeptic about the cost factor here. You can see how much Tata Nano was first said to be priced and how much it is costing now. If you add Marketing and R&D cost to this the price will shoot up.

First of let I tell you one thing. We dont need to follow US or a process which you are thinking is a innovation. Developing new OS doesnt solve problem. Innovating a product which may not kill IPad but all over USA got good hype of killing IPad. Android is an OS which is meant for mobile device. So they are modifying the OS to cope netbook. They are redesigning the whole user interface.
They dont even expect Indians to buy although like me are eagerly waiting to buy. They are targeting USA, UK and Europe where people understands what is a Tegra 2, what is Pixel-Qi and how a great innovative like 180 degree camera and how a back track pad. So they innovated mother board which takes care of all advance devices and all plays greatly.

Then you can invent for India like O.S. for India, Processor for India and Browser for Idnia and screen for India. Actluy all are making by Indian only in different co of the owrld. But if atleast one Idnian co make one compataoor product like that then in future Indian can make other thigns things also, it is not a wonder things.
