Western Media Frenzy
by Preeti Vikram on Dec 01, 2009 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

This western media propaganda. Dubai World and it associate companies like Nakheel, DP, ISS Standard Chartered etc are well run companies. Dubai World is a flagship company for the Dubai Govt and also a pride for the entire emirates. Dubai world and its assocaite companies treat all its employees very well and they have the best wishes and blessings of their employees. Thousands of employees are working in these companies and their collective goodwill and preyares will bring Dubai World out of it crisis.

The Western Media have always been looking for a juicy story outside the western countries for the last one year because the financial crisis in western countries was no longer hot news. They thought China or India will rpovide some juicy story. But Dubai provided and they jumped at it like wolves.

Dubai will come out this crisis stronger and smarter. Atleast for the sake of the Indinad working therr at all levels and India's economy, the crisis should blow over.

Dubai will bounce back
by MOHAMED NAZEER on Dec 01, 2009 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

Attacking Dubai has become fashionable in Western circles. British reporters in particular are sinking their teeth into the Emirate like dogs chomping on a juicy bone. The latest news that Dubai World seeks to restructure its debt involving a six-month payment delay has triggered a host of salivating media hounds baying for blood. Countries, companies and individuals restructure their debts all the time. There has been no suggestion that Dubai World is about to go under or that it will leave its creditors high and dry. The fact is Dubai is getting back on its feet. It’s true that it was more vulnerable to the global economic downturn than the rest of the Middle East but the crisis itself was not of its own doing. Even the finest financial brains were unable to foresee the US subprime crisis that spurred the global . There is absolutely no way that the federal government in Abu Dhabi would throw Dubai to the wolves, for if it did, the whole country would be dragged down with it; perhaps even the region. To prove the point, Abudhabi’s Central Bank has moved to guarantee Dubai’s debts while more liquidity is being pumped into Dubai banks. What Dubai’s rulers have achieved in less than four decades is incredible. The people from all over the world chose to come to Dubai because they could earn money to send to their families and, once they had managed to save a nest egg, they often returned home.

I agree with you that development in Dubai with limited sources for income generation is really marvaless. HH shown his vision on ground and converted paper money into live infrastructure. Its not a waste. This is what one should learn from his great vision and hardwork. I prey for early recovery of Dubai World and compete with rest of world. Dubai shows path of development for developing countries.

I really pity poor little Venkat who works only for 8000 a month and still able to send 4000 to his family. Hats off to a man like him and sad to see that a worker like Venkat is getting such a less salary.

At this venkat is getting 8000 p.m. I have seen many indian and bangladeshis working for SR.450/ p.m. (India Rs.5000/-), while I was inSaudi Arabia, a year back. People especially workers have very hard time to leave there but they are forced by destiny to stay and work. I really felt sorry for them.

The problem in India is that, there is no dignity of labor. You are considered an untouchable if you are not an engineer or a doctor. How much do you pay your house maid a month? A paltry 600 - 1000 rupees? And so such people leave India to earn more and they earn not only more but they also have a life better than in India @ such a salary. This is just an opinion and I stand for correction.
