What if it happened to India?
by Lal on Mar 22, 2009 09:24 PM

India would do EXACTLY the same if they were in this position and so would any other country. So, stop whining and do what you need to and others will do what they need to. This is not a sitation that US would like to be in but they have to go back to basics to fix the problem that the world's richest and the world's so called "experts" have caused, helped by some really really stupid people borrowing money beyond they means to live lavishly. Stop blaming the US for this. Its individuals that need to be slapped and thrown behind bars.
Who would have thought that world's richests would turned out to be con men. Raju and satyam, Madoff, etc...
Others looked up to these guys as a symbol to follow but they were nothing but CONS.

I support Obama's policies
by Guest on Mar 18, 2009 04:13 AM  | Hide replies

As a female IT worker with PMP certification, I have been told I cannot be promoted to a lead position in my firm because Indian males won't work for a woman. My Indian male manager gives better performance reviews to Indian male workers because they are primary breadwinners. I am my family's primary breadwinner, and deserve equal pay and opportunity in my own country.

"Indian males won't work for a woman" - is just not true. There are lot of female managers in and outside India managing Indian males/females. So I don't think that is a real problem.

can't blame US
by Lal on Mar 14, 2009 10:06 PM

If us taxpayer are paying companies to stay aflot, then naturally they would expect to hire people in US. If a company is NOT looking for a bailout then they can do what they want. India would do the same for sure as will any other country. Its the people tax money that is NOW funding some idiotic practices that these companies have followed. How would we like it if our tax money went abroad? US companies in fact have given a lot to India in terms of thousands of jobs, if india keeps relaying on jobs from companies in other countries through outsourcing then shame on us. We need to be building jobs for ourselves. If not then we are at the mercy of others. So, stop complaining, be greatful we have what we have. I don't blame US or any other country trying to build jobs for their own people. We should be doing the same. If you are doing work here for other countries/ companies then that job is/ was someone elses. Be greateful you have it and not someone else. We only have those jobs here because we are CHEAP. It can't last for long.

by D S on Mar 14, 2009 05:05 PM

In India, there is a bunia type devil that exploit and same abroad.
You cannot do India any good by relying on Videshi!!!
What india needs to do is to fix democracy, remove the cartels in big parties. Direct election of PM by people, no MP election

Don't worry - Outsourcing will NOT stop.
by Faceless Indian on Mar 14, 2009 04:59 PM  | Hide replies

Why waste time crying over H1B visa - jobs will now be outsourced more to India and now the first case of the bailout money coming to India has happened. See this and stop crying. Come back to India - this is where the action is. US will NEVER be the same again.

A senior US lawmaker has alleged that the bailout given to American banks have landed in countries like China, UAE and India as the Treasury Department failed to keep track on the granted funds.

Speaking on the floor of the House of Representative, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, said the Department of Treasury has not been able to track the funds given to these banks under the Troubled Assets Relief Programme or TARP.

As a result, we have seen that, of these funds that were supposed to go to help the US economy, USD 8 billion has gone through Citigroup to Dubai; USD 7 billion through Bank of America to China; USD 1 billion through JPMorgan Chase to India," Kucinich said.

Dry-up of US outsourcing jobs given to India
by akshaya deshpande on Mar 11, 2009 11:55 PM  | Hide replies

It should have been clearly known and understood by all in India that the meteoric rise and growth of companies like Wipro, Satyam,Infosys etc.was essentially nothing but a sub-hiring agents for the US and other countries. They paid very high salaries in the US, Indian IT professionals could work for a third of that pay, the hiring agents hooked the US companies and got the business. In the bargain, these Indian IT companies make huge profits, the young generation got good salaries enabling them to ape the Western trends such as the pubs, dating, promiscuity etc.etc.till the global melt down came along and US now need these outsourced jobs for their own people in the US,because even with high pay packets, it is desirable. The IT sector (outsourcing IT jobs firms)really produced no wealth or goods, but only earned huge middleman commissions. This sad story may turn even worse, when the pink slips and joblessness might breed crime and anarchy in our country. The Rajus of Satyam perhaps saw this coming and did what any sharp criminal would do.It is high time India moves swifly for providing jobs for our young peoples, any jobs that will produce wealth, goods etc. and even at the cost of luxuries of ambitious thousand-crore projects, moon mission,Olympics and other fads satisfying fancies of the rich. Simultaneously, zero tolerance judiciary, police, and other essentials for modest but good life may be necessary. Let us not try in vain for reviving IT jobs now.

great thoughts...very true. IT industry has produced handful of multi billionaires such as Premji, Murthy, Nilkeni to name a few. However, 60% of our population struggle to get a square meal a day. Rich is getting richer while poor is getting poorer. The rich are spending money on wines and dines and parties and all that , while fellow citizens are dying from hunger and poverty. There is clearly an aberration that needs to be fixed.

Dear Shanu, you are absolutely right. It is only the US who saved us from China`s onslaught in 1962,despite the diabolical machinations of VK Krishna Menon. The US was the first nation to help us with food during famines in India.US is in forefront in sending massive, generous help during natural calamities. It is not because of Obama, but it is because they HAD some strongly upheld values especially during the sixties upto 2008. Obama is a very exceptional orator, but his focus is on US economy now, and perhaps because of that urgency, he is under compulsions of playing down the global Islamist terrorism, and in fact deftly and quite directly helping the very nations who participated and/or celebrated 9/11. So, do go to the US before it is totally denuded of the Americanness of that country by Obama.

hThe civilized world respects and values Obama who has set really very lofty aims. What every American or African-American in the US is yet to actually taste and see is how and where he leads the US when it comes to the global Islamist terror, which he knows absolutely clearly, will not end unless and until the terrorists accomplish their goal of Islamic world domination. Barack Hussein Obama will have to be visibly seen to take a clear stand as to whether he wants to change the American way of life, its culture or whatever. His colour doesn`t matter one little bit !!
