Sales guys
by sami seva on Jun 09, 2009 06:28 AM  | Hide replies

I don't understand how one can say that sales guys are a burden to the company. I agree they may take the inputs from technical team for RFP and sell to the customer, but it takes more than that to make a successful sale - one needs to customize the technical inputs to the pulse, needs, culture and politics of the client to close a deal. And only sales guys whose job is to understand the client organization, can do that, a techie cannot nor expected.

Sales guys are paid by how much business they personally drive, they are severely affected by economic situation, as compared to a techie whose salary is insulated from market turmoil.

I know many sales guys who work hard to support their families and are under severe stress due to current economic situation. Please put yourself in their shoes before writing such comments.

I believe TCS has lost many projects, some of them were huge which went to compititors like IBM,Accenture.Aren't sales guy to be held responsible?Sales people do have their own targets, and forget the role, TCS has given a pay freeze to freshers even.So how come your Sales Description justifies it?Morever when the company makes the profit owing to difficult deliveries, are profit shared with techies??

peeyush, techies don't carry risk/reward unlike sales.
but some companies have techno-sales positions where a techie opting for this moves into risk/reward pay structure.
a company would be glad if all positions were 100% risk/reward based i.e if company does well they will have $ to pay employees, if it does not do well they do not have to pay full salary.

When TCS has laid off so many people and even cut salaries and promotion for last couple of years.... how can they give increment/bonus to its higher management ???

Do you call this "practice what you preach" ?

Looks like most of the guys jealous and writing crap about TCS. If you are not working for tcs than what's the matter with you.
if you are getting more salary than tcs than ok. first check your CEO who getting more salary than TCS simple.
If TCSers working in US than they are enjoying more than local desi h1b fellow. Because they have more job loss fear than anybody. Onsite employee not working beyond 5PM except few exception. but in india situation is different. whether MNC or Indian IT company both are worse in terms of working culture.

Your English itself is an indication of the level of people in TCS........i would never ever encounter a guy in an Accenture or IBM with the pathetic level of English that i'am reading right now........

It is clear that you are stuck in a low end backend coding job in some dark dingy corner of TCS.....btw, have some of the offices in Mumbai now become hi-tech or are they still relics of the 80s and 90s era where you had to depend on the split AC units?? LOL!!

Beware of a skum called Sameer Bhagwat!!
by Pramit Roy on Jun 09, 2009 04:27 AM  | Hide replies

This chindi chor cobbler always pops up whenever a blog on TCs opens up....i wonder why this third class chindi chor company is given so much footage by Rediff....there are many companies in India that are far better, offer much better learning, better pay and are far exciting places than this drab, boring company with dumb, incredibly stupid, demented people who have no future in their career.....TCS is the last resort for the mediocre people...this Sameer Bhagwat looks like an insider to me, always cropping up when a TCS blog opens....

Hi good to hear that you are happy and getting paid for your efforts.

I had the same issue especially if you work at onsite you need to cover up your subordinates at offshore, work 365 days, No promotion, 12/14 job, Surviving client politics and TCS politics and after doing all this you get the same salary.

All this companies are just for brand. If you work directly for the US companies instead via Indian IT companies you can learn a lot and your growth will be visible.

Too much politics in TCS.

you may not understand the top-level dynamics...You encourage your employee to get more business rather cutting his salary and having no growth. If the top level is positive they get lot of business on table....which could give much more growth to the company.....also we shud not forget that thr is competition which always try to attract talented people in the industry....
