Pay hike
by Prasad Vemparala on Jun 09, 2009 09:25 AM

There should be ceiling on maximum pay packets. Then only the rich and poor gap decrease. We dont have to worry about the availability of competent people as we have one billion of people. We need not worry about the brain drain as the things are hot in US and Australia.

All cuts, pay freezes are for lower level employees. All hue and cry about bad time is to lowering cost by reducing employee expenditure and benefit and to get tax incentives from government. Top brass of all industries in India has increased their pay package during this period. SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE.

N Chandra is Ram's Brother in Law
by Singha on Jun 09, 2009 09:12 AM

Nepotism works in India, even inside Tatas.

One may be surprised to know that N chandra is a lowly MCom. He bypassed more accomplished men just bcoz of his family links.

Infy is no better. Founder families (Kannada/Tamil brahmins) essentially call the shots.

Chandra is a mediocre fellow. But Tata Brand will sustain the company.

Mr. Tata Its Just Not Done !!!
by Guest on Jun 09, 2009 09:05 AM

This is not done. You cut employee salaries in thousands, you retrench people in thousands citing non performance, you take away for variable pay citing reduced profitability then how come you are filling your pockets by increasing your salaries in crores, how come you are issueing dividend to preferential shareholders in turn filling the coffers to Tata Sons to finance their misadventure of buying Corus and JLR

Mr. Tata I am sad to say but the truth is TCS employees are not valued at all and your actions does not prove me wrong

CXO salary
by sami seva on Jun 09, 2009 08:19 AM  | Hide replies

Hey Guys, why are you upset that CXOs are getting hikes while other employees are not?

First, be grateful you have a job. You may not get a hike but atleast you have a job. Compare that to the people in US where the level of underemployment (getting less salary than one used to get) is as much on the rise as unemployment.

Second, you seem to worry more about how much others make, than about yourself. If you do not like the way your company decides the pay structure, you are free to leave and join a different company that matches your principles.

Third, CXO cannot determine their salary unilaterally. In most cases it has to be vetted by the board and if the board members are ok with it, what is the problem?

ddelhi, it depends on how you see it - glass half full or half empty. some may see it as a hike at the wrong time, whole others may see it as an advance incentive to drive organization growth in these difficult economic conditions.
