Ask some independent agency to conduct enquiry. Billions are siphoned off each year against various purchase and expansion/repairs. The stores are hand and gloves with the suppliers who have formed cartels and the railway board is buying material from them which is costing more than it would even if they ordered and imported the material. This is not a SCAM but a parallel economy worked out to benifit some people. The tender process, order placements all are a sham.

New Resv,
Give to Lalooji, the cartoon character?
Ok, He was the Indian Railway Minister during the last 5 years and he brought profits to IR. Is it true? If Indian Govt investigates IR, it would be one of the biggest scams in Independent India. Bihar CM Nitesh Kumar has been asking to have an inquiry on IR's profit during Laloo's time. I heard from some sources that, he wanted to change his image as the most corrupt politician. And he cooked up the IR financial records. One insider told me, "he just added couple of zeros on the right side of the numbers. After all there is no value for zero, but its position did matter". Our PM knows this, he is keeping mum on this scam. Someday it will come out.

This clearly shows that even politicians do Good 4 the pupil, they will not belive that...tats'y many leaders are refusing to be good...Nithish..wat logic he has in politics..he wants his own image image in poltics rather Bihar growth...When manmohan called him to join with him for bihar growth he shared seat with modi...he did few things few good things in bihar but not any Revolution...

Air india out of Mess
by ninu mehra on Jul 21, 2009 09:44 PM  | Hide replies

Sir,we can still make Air India a great Airline if only the Babus and unconcerned Ministers STOP interfering in day to day Matters.
I have very recently flown with Air India on 2/3 sectors. It was very Good better than many of the American Companies where the Air Hostess are like Walking Wardrobes,Food is for Name Sake and there is NO Personal Attention.
Try travelling on the Russian and other CIS countries Airlines and you will feel like JUMPING out of the AIRCRAFT.FOOD is Lousy stale and even disgusting to look at.The Sandwitches are maybe 1 week old.
The problem with we INDIANS is we EXPECT too much for TOO LITTLE.
Recently the GOVT Announced that Whereever The GOVT OF INDIA is directly or Indirectly paying for the Ticket one should travel only by AIR INDIA.Is this system being carried out??
Just for my Information Was our EX-PRESIDENT Sh.Kalam travelling on his Personal Exp or Govt Exp on the CONTINENTAL Flight to USA.I am sure this would NOT have Happened had he been on a AIR INDIA flight.
When and if Mr.Rattan Tata comes on the board and he is allowed to take Independant decisions this AirIndia will become great once again.
WE ALL INDIANS SHOULD TRAVEL ONLY BY AIR INDIA WHEREEVER POSSIABLE AND POINT OUT ALL THE MISTAKES AND SHORT COMINGS THINGS WILL BECOME OK.
1.ALL OLD OVER 40 YRS AIR HOSTESS SHOULD BE GROUNDED TILL THEY GET IN SHAPE.
2.ALL AIR INDIA OFFICES SHOULD BE CLOSED WHERE AIR INDIA IS NOT FLYING.
3.CATERERS SHOULD BE IMMIDIATELY CHANGED.
GOD BLESS U

prob with their business model...
by jayho on Jul 21, 2009 09:36 PM

its simple ppl, they will doom if their business model suks. LET THEM, they DESERVE it.

Govt should ensure common investors or ppl are not doomed in this.

every (almost) govt run org is in mess becos of
1.meritocracy is secondary
2.politics

Should employees be selected/promoted based on merit & skills, AI will fly back again.

ARROGANT ATTITUDE OF STAFF and UNSCUPULOUS CHARGE ON EXTRA BAGGAG
by haridas v on Jul 21, 2009 09:33 PM

Air India is not concerned about its frequent fliers who have been with them for so long. Even genuine complaints are not attended to and replied. Hence, avoidable court cases are invited. Let the management look to complaints like ones I have lodged, but no replies received so far.

Air India definitely needs to be supported. When GOI can defer receipt of billions of Rupess from Kingfisher or Jet, why cant it support, its own baby? Airlines all over world are bleeding and it is naive to blame employees of Air India for its poor financial health? If Jet or Kingfisher is proffessionaly managed, how can their billions of losses be explained. We alos kep on talking that competetion should be allowed, so that fittest survive...In such a scenario, then why dont we let Kingfisher or Jet close down rather than let them feast by defering their payments to GOI.

total bulls**t!!!!
by Indian on Jul 21, 2009 09:07 PM

And now the real reason why AI is suffering:
1. Poor service - just google Air India S u * k s and you will know what I am talking about. Its still in competition just because of food and patriotism.

2. Fuel was an issue for just 6 months. All airlines had issues at that time. It was not an issue that plagued only AI.

3. If you want to experience flying AI, just go to any govt run office, like post office or a national bank.

4. It is overstaffed and underworked.

5. our babus/netas treat AI as their buggy.
