i would not mind paying Rs 50 if it saved me 45 mins to one hour. time is money people. but it may be a waste of money and talent, the bridge. i read somewhere that its much better to build ring roads around the city. Those would ease traffic congestion much more than this bridge.

YOu must be another f**king moron who pays 50 bucks a day apart from you pay 30% of your salary as tax which was supposed to ease your state of life. the fact that you asked for ring roads in Mumbai shows how ignorant you are. Mumbai can not have ring roads like Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Get it ? Mumbai is an Island city marred by political scum.

journey of just 7 min !!!
by vinay on Jul 02, 2009 01:24 AM

journey of just 7 min from bandra to worli (in lonely drive) on sealink is compared to 1 n half hour journey (in crowded traffic) on the other roads. so comparision is not corect.

whether distance between the two destinations is reduced by sealink or not is important. also what abt the distance travelled to approach/exit the sealink shud b counted!
its going to b another of trafic jammed route.

What a waste!!!
by anand menon on Jul 02, 2009 01:20 AM  | Hide replies

What a waste of the tax payers money. This stupid bridge is nothing comparted to some of the bridges built in some of the other countries and they call this an engineering marvel!
The only way to control the ever growing traffic and over crowding problem is by controlling the huge influx of people from the north. They come here put a rickshaw or taxi and settle down in the ever burgeoning slums.
Anyways one great thing about this bridge is that people travelling early morning on the bridge can get a spectacular view of the all the slumdwellers defecating on the shore.
Enjoy the bridge Mumbaikars!!!

and thats the damn problem here.
the fact that the bridge probably had like 5 ppl from mumbai working on it while all the technical expertise came from other countries, and couldnt even understand the tru requirement of the bridge.if some mumbaikars had got there act together...umm 60 years ago we wouldv had a better bridge.
but mumbai has always kissed gora ass.
gateway of india se taj hotel tak.

WAKE UP PPL...

Tanveer Oberoi, the lead designer of the bridge was/is Indian who lives in Mumbai so dont blame our incompetence on some other country.

Ya 50 Rupees in your own CAR and your own PETROL in it FOR a distance of 5 Kilometers!Which means you pay Rs 10.00 per KM as TOLL !!!!!
In a country where you can hire a TAXI for 5-6 rupees per kilometer!!!! - where the vehicle is not yours , someone else is driving and burning his own petrol and on top of it earning a livelyhood for himself and his family!!!!
AND traffic JAMS from day one!!! TWO WHEELERS not allowed!!!!! Could there be a better JOKE ?!?!?!?!

My question is not on the 'BRIDGE' what i am questioning is the short sightedness of the politicians (and their henchmen)of building a bridge which faces traffic jams from day one (agreed presently it is free hence the rush is more) BUT what will happen say 5 years from now? Build another bridge? tax the PUBLIC anew TOLL again?
The next point i raised is the comparision between taking an entire TAXI on rent and driving your own car on this BRIDGE is the TOLL (A tax which is more than the cost plus profit of operating a car) - a Simple case of GOVERNMENTAL CHEATING and LOOTING !?!?!?!

INDIAN POLITICOS
by Anand sodo on Jul 02, 2009 12:58 AM

They set up a committee in 1990 - it gives its report in 1995 (after 10-15 extensions)- then this report gathers DUST for say another 5 to 10 years - then global tenders are invited - then these tenders are cancelled due to some SCAM then re-invited then allotted - again funds are not released on time - sometimes the Builder just manages to take some time off the project to honeymoon with his Nth wife!! - atlast the PROJECT is completed after 20 - 30 years of the Original NEED - The result - Traffic SNARLS on day one !!!!!
Because by then the traffic has more than DOUBLED!!!!!!! and nobody had ever thought about GROWING!!!!!!!!after all we are a country of ORTHODOX people arent we????
