Change the system of education
by muthuraj ramaswamy on Feb 18, 2009 03:32 PM

Our education system developed by Macaulay followed by Indian congress govt is to make clerks and service people to the world Not to invent for India.
When we change our education system proposed for our nation then we will start thinking about invention.
Yes there are special people who could do some in india itself : Indian Govt will not support to become innovative country than copying country.
We are already in the slavism of Monarch Nhru family looking for Rahul Gandhi who does not know anything

With these kind of people and politicians it is great achievement if some body could achieve littlebit

The game was played with cowrie shells and dices. Later through time, the game underwent several modifications but the meaning is the same i.e good deeds take us to heaven and evil to a cycle of re-births.

Xian,

It is too hard for you understand. Indian Scientis built Super computer when US denied access to India. When chaina investing in Nuclear bombs and moving down students with takers, Indian scientts built language processrs and giga bit chips. It is out of your league to imagine it. Since indian chooses to be peoceful and not use inventions for making money, credit does not go unnoticed.

India & innovation
by Mookiah Iyengar on Feb 18, 2009 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

As usual, two ( deluding) Indians living in LA write about India as innovation leader of the future. With less than 0.8% of GDP spent on R&D in India, compared to 4% in the west, Singapore, Japan, Korea etc., India is a far away from this dream. So called smart schools ( IITs ) can only produce tecnicians for the west. Innovation is not part of your culture. This is very much reflected in the scientific output from Indian univarsities ( ~ 150 of them) since indpendence ( about 60 years ago). There is nothing wrong in dreaming. However, deluding is dangerous. Don't mislead.

Defintely a pride for doing good contribution to corporates !!!
by globalian on Feb 18, 2009 12:48 PM

Good sign, even though the corporates got market benefits out of it. Atleast we can be happy that offshore centers are adding good value additions with the existing row. I wish, Indian entrepreneurs should build more products instead of clinging to MNCs for outsourcing works. Innovation should be the prime criteria behind entrepreneurship. But, I don't know how we call this as innovation, only GE engineers can explain.

Sorry to say. But the truth is
by New York on Feb 18, 2009 12:47 PM  | Hide replies

Indians should not TRUST each other because there are no CITIZENS in India. There are only PEOPLE living in India.

Here it is why.

DESPERATION
85% of Indians are languishing in an informal economy to earn $2 a day so that they can feed a MEAL for their family.
Hence their lives oscillate between DESPERATION and FRUSTRATION.
They will SUCCUMB easily to CORRUPTION and vote for any CANDIDATE in ELECTIONS for 100 rupees.

COLLUSION
Remaining Indians are even more DESPERATE because they prefer to evade TAXES at any cost.
SACHIN TENDULAR ,India's richest sportsman has shamelessly evaded taxes when he imported FERRARI sports car.
As we know without TAXES there is no CIVILIZATION.
And one Indian does not want fellow Indian to SUCCEED.
BRIBE or CASTE is the cohesive relation between any two individuals in politics, business, police and judiciary.
Source of REVENUE for Govt is Corporate TAXES.
And only source of FUNDS for Political Parties is Corporate BRIBES.

SOLUTION
I suppose everybody in India should OWN a hand gun.
And arms LICENSE costs just 100 rupees in India.

An armed society is a POLITE society.
And it is not FEAR that keeps us polite -- it is RESPONSIBILITY.

Its true what you said for most of the part but I disagree on your SOLUTION. Law of Gun is hardly a solution in these times. There will be a chaotic bloodbath in a mixed society like India. I suppose you are saying this in comparison to what happened in wild west. Those were different times and a different social structure unlike hybrid India.

The old ways can be disastrous
by Pawan Singh on Feb 18, 2009 12:47 PM

This is the central message here and it is well supported.

Good to note that the corporate sector is taking advantage of the constructive market forces. What about the Government? It is still deeply steeped in the old way - great noise and much ado accompanied by do nothing and a determined effort by ignorant interests to sustain themselves. Consequence: a great opportunity to lead the world in innovation with our vast government market to provide enterprise scale proof points is going abegging.

Innovation needs an attitude in the market place and we are still dependent on the West for that.

If you want Indian economy to roar again, please use your vote judiciously in the coming lok sabha elections. Do not support regional parties and its leaders like Mayawati, Mulayam,Chandra babu Naidu, Jayalalitha and ofcourse the left parties. Support only to national parties whether it is UPA or NDA. A stable government only can take Indian economy keep going and recover from the turmoil happening today eventhough it was not created by us. People of india should aware that Indian economy is not that much bad compared to other global peers. All was because of a stable government and its policy measures. So keep faith on india and elect your government to last for 5 years to witness the country to prosper.

National party or regional party is of no consequence. Attitude is what matters. If the party wants to do good for the country, that is what we need. It is the national parties which ruled for most of the years of independence and has corrupted our society. To let someone be able to grow from grass roots without bending backwards to someone in a national party, we need to recognise and promote regional parties. If they are good and can scale up will become national parties. Restricting parties is definitely not party of democratic functioning.

agree with those can read your message may probbably act on your or my suggetion. But do you maximum % of Vote comes from uneduated who can not read or write/ or Lower category people and migrated from Pakistan and bangladesh they only votes. And there % is sufficient to win the election. So everyone including electroni and print media should convey this message but they do not do. And political person mulayam , amar, maywati, mamata , CPM etc, they are expert in making castism and religion base. That is the reason India is still 300 years behind than any developed country.

correct, the criteria is good people and not the national or regional party. If you think regional party is not good, don't vote for that regional party. If you think a national party is not good, don't vote for that national party. But, the statement that only national parties should be voted for holds no water.

James,

You message is contradictory.

You say that we need to vote for national party, which happen to be either Congress or BJP.

When you say UPA or NDA, then that includes all the regional parties.

For country to improve, we need to get rid of all these regional parties and have just two parties.

Next Big Wave To Engulf India- Mass Unemploymentbecoz of Builders
by historyrepeats on Feb 18, 2009 12:22 PM

Unless the consumption power of Indian population is increased, no amount of rate cut in terms of CRR, Repo Rate , SLR , Reverse Repo , ECCB or any such monetary package to organisations/sectors will bear any fruit. Such measures on part of Govt only helps in capitalising Banks. But, no banks is willing to lend its money to Common Man because of fear of growing defaulters ?

How to increase consumption power of Common Man ?

Basic needs of Human Being:
Roti , Kapada and Makaan.

Common Man spends about 50 to 60 per cent of its income in either paying EMI or House Rent ?
Then where is the money left with him/her to spend money on other things.

Reducing rate on Home lone will not help . Why ?
Because no person will ever think of purchasing House @ Rs. 20 Lacs to 50 Lacs . Not even if they are given House Loan. Because they know that they will not be able to repay . Initially they may repay for few months then they will default becoz of poor income package. If taken loan of 20 Lacs, this simply translates it into mortgaging their own life for paying EMI all through out his life.

Where is the affordable House ?

Govt. relaxed House loan rate on 5 Lacs House ? Do House at this price available in the market.

Only Solution :

a) Reduce the price of House within the bracket of 3- 5Lacs.
Or
b) Govt should come out with scheme of building affordable houses for Common Man and not for Investors. Ensure it does not fall in the clutches of Land Sharkers/Pro
