Our Govts. cud have spent millions of rupees for such projects in the public sector as our scientists are second to none. Instead of spending for all unncessary things looking to the vote bank politics, Govt. must divert the funds for such innovations for the future generations!!! Vande Mataram

Young Indians remained fettered for very long time to social norms which were mainly religion based .Technology was an alien subject and only academic achievements were sought after. Today this has changed , and this will bring about revolutionary changes in the lives of Indians , which was denied so far . However , one aspect need immediate atttention , i.e. geneally Indians are not very good in working with their hands using tools .Hence the end products are not sophisticated and are of inferior quality. China is way ahead of us in this regard. Another issue is that "automation" is a bad word and politically incorrect .In the early fifties and sixties even magazines like Polular Mechanics were banned in the country But things are changing , not because of Indian politics but in spite of it .

Innovation-- India style

Soon we will have solar vehicles and teach the Americans and also the Arab world how to behave. Our natural ally in innovation as well as national security is Israel. When they can grow grapes in the desert using the technology of drip irrigation and we can sucessfully complete a moon mission, we have to join hands with them and show the world what can be accomplished by two young nations but ancient people. And the irony is both of of have had a democratic government for most years after becoming independant.

This is a good development!

This is a good development. It will help western companies in leveraging Indian talent pool availability and achieve cost effectiveness at the same time. Indian Enginners on the other hand will get opportunity to work more on research based projects which are comparitively less at the high end tech level.

The only hitch here is those companies have to be consistant on their strategies and keep their corporate goals away from their parent country political intrusions.

If we depend on govt and its institutes we will stay where we are. Efforts have to come from the pvt sector lead one can have collaboration with the institutes to tap their expertise but all the work has to be steered by the pvt sector. Did govt have any role in the success of our IT industry? No they succeeded because govt had nothing to do with it.
