I am fedup with the Income tax Department's laxity of tax refunds. For 3 to 4 years refunds are not sent only to harass honest tax payers into making them grease hands of corrupt and unscrupulous criminals occupying seats of government office. These criminals must be publicly whipped and sent behind bars. A record of how much money is to be distributed through tax refunds must be prepared and made public. This seems to be a big scam. Mr. Chidambaram or whoever is the Minister, any answers?

Nothing can happen to this country, our base is corrupt, we are born corrupt as we pay the doctor for extra care, After that we pay donation for studies from Nursery to Graduation and Post graduation we just pay pay and pay. After that we do all sort of tactics to get a job by influence else you do not get a job unless U r a IIM/IIT/SYMBIOSIS/ETC. After that we do corruption in our day to day work like want to get some govt job done we pay them under table and we are happy. We have done a great job by bribing. All proud mothers say, My son is studying in Bishops( How by paying 2 lacs donation bribing thru agents). For every goverment work we need a agent who is involved directly in corupting the official, all setting is there from top to bottom , all get thier share. Politicians are corrupt at high level ( Only in crores) . SO why blame the country for this, blame our peoples , as people make the country. Can we all to gether take a decision and make this country non corrupt.

U r right. Its us and none else have to take up. We should open our eyes atleast now.
My returns for the Financial Year 2005-06 were filed, where my CA had determined a refund of approx. Rs. 4000/- odd. It is 4 years now & there is no sign of it! Actually, one should not expect anything from our Govt. It is just a one way window! Productive Indian Public have been paying all sort of taxes - on income and on purchase of products (taxes & surcharges levied from manufacturing to selling), to feed the unproductive & lazy people who want to enjoy all the luxuries of life without hard-work; or shall I say - without any work. Besides they are enjoying good positions because of biased govt. policies (reservation, etc) whereby inspite of not even being eligible they draw salaries from 2 sources - one the official and two from under the table. As if all this was less, the service tax was introduced which was really back-breaking! And then the Toll Tax! The Govt. show to us the tax structures of other countries; but they fail in giving back the benefits, the way these countries do! I fail to understand where these crores of rupees go to! Inspite of having more than 1 billion population, Indian economy is always in a deficit! Reason: corruption, corruption and corruption! May God bless all the Hard-Working Indians, so that they can satisfy their hungry & lazy counterparts.

Learned people like us also trust brokers and Charetered Accountants. Its we who encourage bribe. IT is also a fact that most of the CAs are earning lot of money by collecting bribes and retaining for themselves. Recently I have been to IT Office at Hyd and I am amazed to see the transparency. Still these things happen. I think we should stop going to CAs for simple jobs like filing of returns and WE SHOULD COLLECTIVELY SAY NO TO BRIBES

Its true. If we dont pay tax then we are caught and put into jail. If one said he got more income and paid more tax also put into jail [Ramlainga Raju, Satyam Scam]. If we pay in excess then they take 1-2 yrs to refund the amt. That too with 10% comission to him to get the refund. What a country and what a culture.Election is nearing , Request people to think of these things . Great .

Every concerned knows that a price is to be paid before refund in Excise, ST, IT and other govt. deptts. Govt. servants are not affected at all, as they enjoy service upto 60 years of age, actually in a country of 110 crores, all people must retire like army, i.e. if post is not there, they retire before 60 normally around 40-45 in majority of cases, but these civilian Babus have deceived the security forces and upgraded and guaranteed their services.
Last year , 2007-2008 tax refund is yet to be received and asking us to submit the returns for the coming financial year. Request to take the matter seriously and sort out the matter at the earliest. Thanks.

This is an eye opener. Best course would be to raise the threshold limit for TDS particularly for Senior Citizens. A ridiculous sum of Rs. 5000/ attracts TDS. Assessee then files a Return which is not processed for 2 years. Department gives low interest for delayed period. This vmakes Income Tax a regressive Tax.
