when greats like Ghandhi, Leo tolstoy dont get NP there is no value to the Prize. Ghandhi propagated Peace he didnot get NP but ppl like Kissinger gets it NP is for Westeren ppl or ppl settled over there

Gandhi was nominated for Nobel Prize in 1948. Since he died in that year he could not be awarded the prize. Nobel prizes are given only to alive persons. This information was released 50 years after the nomination which is a rule.

gandhiji was nominated earlier too but they were not sure whether it was a good idea to give this to him. i'm sure the fact that he was fighting the britons would have been the reason..see this would have strenthened the indian freedom movement..crux of the matter ...these things r run by politics. but the stature of gandhiji did not lessen ..rather the fact will always be a bitter reminder to the society.

Gandhi was a useless impractical person who divided India into two and favoured Muslims and pakistan and this led to 5 millino deaths in partition and rioting, SOMOE PEACE ?
Most of the Nobel prizes went to the Anglo-Americans and those who are associated with them. How many Russians got Nobel prize, only those who were anti-communists. Kissinger, the butcher, got Nobel peace prize. Churchill, the colonialist, got Nobel prize in literature. Marcony, got Nobel Prize( by copying the instrument created by J.S.Bose ( who had demostrated it in the Royal Institure, London in front of Marcony then a 24 years old telegraph salesman not a scientist).
S.N.Bose never got any Nobel but five Americans just by applying his theory got it.
Economics Nobel Prize does not make any sense, as Economics is not science, there is no discovery, economists cannot do any good for anyone. They got Nobel, if they are old professor in some Anglo-American universities and follow only the Anglo-American ideas. Even most economists do not know who these people are who already got Nobel prizes in economics.
What exactly Baghwati did to increase the welfare of the people. Nothing except he is the propagandists for the Multinational companies and his wife was a staunch anti-Soviet, possibly a CIA agent. So, he is perfectly qualified to get Nobel. Amartya Sen got Nebel by saying that 5 milion people in Bengal in 1943 forced to starve to death by the British because the victims have started eating too much. This is Economics Nobel prize.

i agree completely....why this craze for western awards ....we always find recognition for their awards be it oscars or nobel or others .....what is their worth ....the best of consultants lehman bros tells firms how to survive and prosper ....why didnt they do it themselves ...think out of the horizon ..the whole western system is flawed ..devise something new .....
It's an interesting article. Another Economics' Nobel for an Indian in the near future is a distinct possibility.
In fact, Indians actually deserved many more Nobel Awards in all the selected areas (Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, Peace and Economics) than what they received so far.
It's hoped that the Awards Committee will correct past mistakes to recognize the true talent and path-breaking inventions, initiatives and intellectual and humane endeavours to promote peace, progress and prosperity of the humanity at large.
