Raja, Nagaraj is true that the high speed trains india cannot happen in near future. The rail infrastructure has to be completely changed to accomodate the high speed rail and it is not a easy job.... Even if Mr Sreedharan Nair takes up the job, may be he can do it clinically but it wil l take a lot of time.....

The question of high speed rails will take some time. The current rail tracks in India are msotly designed for 110 kmph(max) which most express trains take while the Shatabdis and Rajdhanis do 130 where allowed on stretches of track. Even the fastest train in India, the Bhopal-Delhi Shatabdi does the famed 150 kmph in a few stretches while its 130 on the remanining parts. The have been proposals for bullet trains and other high speed sections but the same have to take off. Till then sections like the Bangalore-Chennai section(Shatabdi covers it in 5 hours) will gain prominence over the Bangalore-Chennai air route. The rail stations are in the heart of the city while traveling to the airport, check in time and again travelling from the other city airport to destination will make air travel more time consuming.
Anywys as long as IR(not particularly Laloo) keep coming up with new initiatives and rail tickets remain as cheap as ever(much lesser than road travel for Sleeper/sitting class/Second), IR will keep raking in the moolah!

Buddy i am in bangalore... and never felt jealous about other city or state... If the educated person like you will say these things then what can we expect from our uneducated population..... Please have patience Even chennai Airport is getting shifted to Sriperambadoor.... 50 km from city. You can then boast that it is the best in india and the logest journey one would make to reach city.. LOL

You happy about Chennai Airport being junk and TN people jealous about BIAL? Enjoy. I'm happy that you are happy.
What is there to be jealous? Not everyone is going to travel by flight everyday. And, those who used to fly to Mangalore, Goa, Chennai etc. are now going to move to train, because of the distance of BIAL from City and connectivity issues.
But all said and done, it is really great to have a world class facility - Bangalore, Enjoy. I wish more such facilities get built - more importantly in time. Wish the BMRCL goes on steam as planned. All the best wishes for that.

Hey Rajesh, Airports are for the privileged few. The common man travels by bus. Compare your bus service to that of TN and tell what is junk service. For your info, I am a Bangalorean. Traffic congestion would not be so much if an efficient bus service existed. To add to your knowledge, the TN govt is just waiting for the new Bangalore Airport to go operational because, only then they can go ahead with their own plan for an international airport at Hosur. Imagine where the air traffic will be with the superior road infrastructure to Hosur.

what a joke comparing KAR bus service sto thats of TN ,look at your bus first and talk your buses are big fat junk, ours is all Volve,TN doe snot even have enough money to buy buses let olone build a new airport in Hosur, whcih any way cannot be built,beacase no new airport can come with in 150 kms of the BIAL airport Ha ha

Rajesh, First of all I am not from Chennai or Bengalooru. Please do not try to create a scene of localisation with states fighting against each other. Let us hold hands together.... Do Think Can Bengaloooru have a port as Chennai has? Chennai has a well established Metro Rail system which is coming up in Bangalore and we see a good network system coming up by 2010. Bengalooru does not have the capacity of chennai city by space. But yes Chennai does not have so much IT/BT developments as Bengalooru has. It is raising to be a good competition but is behind. Chennai very unfortunately misses the variety of language and culture which bengalooru enjoys........

you are true, Being INternational is Fine. But is not Indian food of International Standard? Bring Indian Food at a nominal rate so that along with cheap airfare people also get option of selecting different food at different rates. and am damn sure if you have a nominal rated restuarant inside the airport it will stop the business of all other so called "INTERNATIONAL" Brands....
The Chennai airport modernization was implemented without any fuss. It is ultra modern with state of the art amenities. Good shopping, longes etc. The Bangalore airport has been going on for several years.

In Chennai there are 43 Kannadigas in my dept alone (s/w company). SO WHO IS MIGRATING ? Have you been to chennai recently ... its hundred times better than BANGLORE in terms of TRAFFIC GROWTH INFRASTRUCTURE STABLE GOVT ETC.
