Stop fooling people laluji.Railways job is not too accumulate profit.Just take a look at number of cockroaches in the sleeper and AC compartments.Lot of people travel by sleeper class with local class tickets. And what about the availability of tickets. The situatioon is worsening. So how could you compare the indian railways with fortune 500 company.

Cockroaches from Bihar is a big problem in Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. He should make sure "insect" spray is used on all trains that come out of Bihar!

'Railways job is not too accumulate profit"
That is funny, it is a public sector company, that is self financed, how is it going to run if it does not accumulate profit to re-finace new projects.....

''Just take a look at number of cockroaches in the sleeper and AC compartments.''
The railways can not help if people who are travelling do not have basic civic sense of keeping the trains clean. But the budget has addressed this problem by proposing to give the maintainence to a private firm which can be held accountable. I think it is a progressive idea.
what about the availability of tickets?
Mobile ticketing, internet ticketing, 15000 new ticket counters, i think the issue has been adequatly addressed in principle.

''travel by sleeper class with local class tickets.''
How is the railway resposible...it is loosing revenue becuase of these freekhories...sad that railways do not file legal charges on them for travelling free...

Our Railways is one of the best when it comes to operations and the sheer volume of passengers that it caters to. it is a fortune 500 company with a Lalu or without a lalu. Be proud of it.

Train from chennai to GAYA(Bihar)
by perwez khan on Feb 26, 2008 02:31 PM

Hi laluji,

i heard a long back that you are gonna start a train from chennai to gaya(bihar), as u must be aware of the fact that those passenger who travels from bihar other than patna have to catch two trains to reach chennai which is highly painful, so i request you to start a train which will cover the route from GAYA to CHENNAI. As gaya comes into one of the important station in india, and from there we don't have any train which comes to southindia.

please get a look into my plea.

thanks,

A new rail coach unit to be set up in Kerala
by Anantha Kumar Rajamani on Feb 26, 2008 02:29 PM  | Hide replies

B4 this new thought comes into the forefront, many LAAL-JHANDAS will b lifted up. BTW, does the railway think that local manpower would be interested in putting their best efforts? Will it be a profitable venture?
90% of the local working population's time is spent on lifting their dhotis, knotting these dhotis around their waists and dropping these knots back to ground!!!
The other 10% - busy in strikes, bandhs, rastha rokos etc.!!!

You seem to be one of the many literate illiterates, who only knows to sit pointing others faults, and doing nothing. The Keralites are well aware of their rights and occupy the topmost posts in almost all the private & Govt. sectors. You name it and they are there. You have the Chief Justice of Supreme Court, the former President of India, P.T.Usha,Shiny Wilson, Sreesanth, etc, etc. They all have come up on their merits. So, why dont you do something better and try for your upliftment, instead of sitting & criticising people.

Wellcome to Surat
by Yogesh on Feb 26, 2008 02:26 PM

Surat, after Mumbai, second as far as revenue is concerned in Western Railway, and you are well come to see the dirtiest station in India, with almost no facility in complete contrast to city's progress.

Rats in Superfast Express
by ssrao on Feb 26, 2008 02:25 PM  | Hide replies

I had recently travelled on 16-2-2008 by falaknuma express from Secunderabad and was surprised to find so many rats right from the start of the journey. There were so many running around and one of the travellers also lost his dinner, as it had a bite into it, before he could. I was surprised to see a superfast train having so many rats that too at start of journey, when it should have come clean into the station. With pantry too in the train, it only makes travellers think twice to have food or not? Anything could happen.
