SEZ ARE A NECCESSITY FOR following reasons 1.India need world class infrastructure for exporting services to the world 2.New generation has great potential,which can be best utilised in SEZs 3.One acre of farmland cannot even support one person in terms of yield,1 acre of sez will employ not less than 100 people 4.FOR farmers it is life time opportunity to get remuneration in lieu of land i.e.In Haryana,we are getting Rs 22 Lac per acre,before the advent of sez,it was only Rs 2-3 Lac per acre.Moreover land is totally barren(underground water is saline)Its yearly yield is nor more than Rs 5ooo per acre. 5.Lands value increase only after govt invests lots of taxpayers money in terms of roads,electricity,water supply etc.so govt should have final say in usage of land not farmers as many people are demanding,this will lead to a situation where it willnot be possible even to open a single school, hospital,or any community place

I agree with you. If the industrialist/corporate buy land directly from the farmers with decent amt the farmers will be happy to selling land all over India. I believe the farmers should get small ownership too i.e 10%.

Well, As per this news, Mayawati is not against SEZ, but against government aquiring lands at peanuts prices and handing it over to the industrialist.
The Industrialist should be giving market rate to the farmers. Keep the governemnt off of such deals. They can give tax benifits to the industries or other facilities, but why they should act like a broker (atctually its the politicians who make money not even government). That is why we see farmers opposing such moves.

Dear SEZMust, The government has created roads, is providing you water and electricity, so if its wants to use your house as its office for free or say may be paying you rs 500 will you give them. Just let me know. SEZ though started with a good intention ultimately become method of land hording for big business houses.
This is a free market and industry should be buying land from the farmers at market prices. Why the governemtn should act like a broker buying farmers land at cheap prices and then selling it to industrialist?
Let the farmers come together and become a real estate developer, who can attract the free market enterprises and reap the benifits of developement and not just be a silent spectactor after selling the land.
Pune's Magarpatta city is an excellent example for such cases.
What mayawati is doing is best for farmers as well as industrialist. It will give good prices to farmers as well as cut industrialist time in aquiring land.

Dude! Still have best education institute compare to your state. Most of the cream student gets seats/course in State owned institute and remaining goes to other states. Otherwise other state have most of the time empty engineering/medical seats. UP politician think for 30% population which do not have land and education facility. If we provide the basic training and resources to all, it means another outsourcing gaint With in country. Do not forget that we have 20% muslims and they don,t have basic education resources.
His brother Mukesh told him, his father told him that make politicians work for you, dont work with them or work for them, did he listned ? no, if it was Mukesh Ambani's project or it was Dhirubhai's project had it become a political football No !!!.
Now dont know how much money he will loose but whatever he does he has seriously jeopardised his company's future !!!

The SEZ would have provided employment in their neighbourhoods to thousands in UP. But alas its the government and the people of a particular place that makes a developed state and a undeveloped state.
Now again the "Lets go to Mumbai" trend will start and you will have the same numbers of 4000 people per day comming from UP-Bihar to Mumbai repeating itself.
May be Maywati should have also asked scrapping of all trains from UP to Mumbai too in her demands. See if she wants to keep the state undeveloped then all windows of opportunity should also be closed.
