The ranking given for most expensive locations do provide a wrong picture!! Singapore at 15th place is quite unbelievable. The rental prices are increasing higher and higher day by day.

i guess those who hav put the ratings need to take a detour of othr places rather thn sittin at home n predicting well i guess these guys r playin predict n win in here too n gettin all the facts n figures from our side...ask thm to find cheaper accomodation in dubai n doha thn mum......n plz guys dnt talk abut colaba n all thy r no way comparable to locations in gulf which r way costly to b rented
Mumbai, which is ranked seventh, is followed by Shanghai, on whose lines the government is planning to develop the Indian financial hub.
haha now they are trying to make a city which is like shanghai. in other words they are going to copy whatever sanghai is going to do. Indians cannot make anything genuine. bollywood which is the master at copying things , the people of india which shamelessly copy all those CDs, DVDs ( and they have the audacity of accusing the US of stealing oil from other countries.) The only true and good thing india has produces is HINDUISM and its sciences. we have no imaginations....the only imagination we have right now is to how to populate india and make it the worlds most populous country....which ia m sure we will excel at.
This way of determining that mumbai is expensive is totally not acceptable. I live in Toronto and that city is more expensive than Mumbai. I being a mumbaikar know that Mumbai can feed anyone from the lowest to the richest.
The criteria utlilzed in the rankings is the rental of a 3 bedroom apartment. But did any one bother to determine what percent of Mumbai's population live in 3 bedroom apartment? The criteria used for the comparison is faulty. If the comparison is made using the rental cost of a one room modest accomodation, the results will be way different.
I'm living in Australia and I'm paying A$1100(Rs.36000) per month as rent. And it's just normal range. do u guys think its cheaper than that in Mumbai. Do some research before come to a conclusion guys.

I am in newyork paying 120000 for 3 bedroom flat. In mumbai 3 bedroom flat in good location can cost you around 80000 to 100000. Even in gurgaon the rents are high as 50000. It is better you are in australia. You can not afford living in India.

How come Mumbai is Expensive, the Appartments, Area and City are so dirty, no infrastructure, no secuirity, no good transportation, no safety etc etc etc........ Shocked to read this Article today, Mumbai City is Good for Nothing, most of the Criminals are born there, its a Crime Generating City and nothing Else!!!!!!!!!!
RE:Amazing!!! How Come ?????

Mumbai is so costly, because demand is huge over here.. People from every corner of India come here everyday and get settled.
Some people are saying in south, in there are so many villages they wont speak hindi. Its true. Bec of illitracy. Do they think in maharastra villages or in any other states people can speak any other language (hindi) other than their local language. First think man, dont leave a message. In towns most of the people speaks hindi. If u go in andhra or karnataka any small town u can find most of the people who speaks hindi.
i hope most of the readers are not proud of this article on Mumbai. as mentioned by one of the readers before me, its not something to be proud of becasue of several reasons. 1. The economics of demand and supply which determines the price(the rent in this case)does not take into consideration several things listed below: A. Infrastructre around the estate B. facilities inside the estate C. Convenience around the estate
have u seen the chawls around mumbai, the choked drains, the beggers around the high rise apartments, the stench from the surrounding drains etc...does this justify the high rental.
Quite Funny that Mumbai is 7th Most expensive city when it does not even feature in Top 100 Cities of the World , really quite ironic........ Please See for your self http://bwnt.businessweek.com/interactive_reports/livable_cities_worldwide/
