hi friends why do indians get excited about anything and everything.. why cant we just be relaxed.ok its an article read it i dont find the information too wayward.. and business research is not like scientific research.. u cannnot generalize and say things for sure a 100% as in scientific research. there is an element of human bias..

so chill and have fun dont take all these things to heart kk my two cents worth

I agree with my friend. live life 1 day at a time & just do your best in whatever your doing and the rest should not bother you.

Report is not right picture.

It is not a true picture, as i have been to Oslo which is one of expensive city but it is not listed here. Expensive criteria are incorrect in this report.

Too much
by bond007 on May 24, 2007 05:22 PM

I can't believe. In spite of this people stay and paid good amount to their landlord. Being a financial city of India, people visit and later on they settle down here as well. Since demand is more due to accommodation charges are too high.

Usage of the word Ghati is legally prosecutable.
by BostonPunekar on May 23, 2007 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

Just for information

If any one uses the word Ghati on any forumn, publicically or on literature, the person can be arrested, procecuted and legal remedy can be taken against that person as well as against the newspaper and news portal which publicises that.

Hence even Rediff can be prosecuted when the derogatory term is used and rediff publicises and publishes it.

Similar case took place where an Andhraite sued a newspaper on the usage of the teram Gultee and he has won the case.

Same legal provisions are applicable and people have been prosecuted and even in some cases sentenced to imprisonment and fined.

Hence beaware if u use the word Ghati..it is legally prosecutable and also a crime which can be booked at any local police station.

Do Get the details first!!

I am from Mumbai and have been to HongKong and presently in London. The Accomodation price for 3 BRK per month are

HongKong : Central HK - HK$ - 22000 pm, Outside - HK$ - 18000 pm. Approx Rs 1.2 Lakhs

London : Zone 1/Central London £2500 - £3000 pm, Zone 2 Approx £2200 pm, and goes on decreasing gradually till Zone 6, which has around £1400. (£1 ~ Rs 80) so £ 2500 ~ Rs 2 Lakhs)

Apart of this we have to pay the council tax of approx £150 pm for 3BRK flat. VAT rate is 17.5% flat.

Mumbai: Prices varies as we go from South Mumbai to North Mumbai and from Western side to Eastern side. Western side the prices are more than that of Eastern Side. Also it varies how far is the residence from the station and the locality.

Even if you consider by the PPP, In HK it is around 35%, London is around 45%, and Mumbai is aroung 15-20% ?

Still HK is no 1, London is No6 and Mumbai is no 7 in the list?

good to hear
by RK on May 23, 2007 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

It's good to hear that Mumbai is in the top list. but I don't get one point here. I've been following this blog and i'm shocked after reading some individual's comments. Brits invented "divide & rule policy" to rule our country. Now blogs like this still show that feeling...who cares mate whether u r from delhi or chennai or somewhere else...be an Indian. appreciate India's growth...not just stick ur ass in front of the computer criticizing others...all the best for u all. I don't mind if someone responds to my message..'coz i don't give a s#@t

This is true that Mumbai has become 7th costliest city in the world. But, if you see the list of richest cities in the world. Mumbai alon with all its major cities will come at the bottom with less than 8% avg gross sal compared to NYC, USA. It has emerged the top costliest list due to the presence of very rich industrialists and mediocre rich superstars. But, if you see common people lifestyle:: that's still horrible. Roads are crowded(:( for car owners), local trains are overcrowded always etc. So in that way its still no where in comparison with big international cities. Again, you can very well manage an 1-bedroom apartment for less than 5000 INR which is not possible in west cities or advanced cities of China/ Japan. So, being costly in this way is not a matter of pride:( --BD
