hmmm... wonder why Kingfisher airlines has ordered so many A380s.
Vimal,
Info about 747 is wrong.. Most international flights are Boeing 747 - 400.R u confusing it with 787 which would be a much bigger aircraft.

There are currently 6 Airports in India where the Boeing 747 can land: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Amritsar. I'm afraid Kochi is NOT on the list. Neither is Bengalooru or Hyderabad.
Coimbatore Airport. because it is clean and neat and has very less traffic. Also the main road is 5 minutes away and hence auto rikshaw guys cannot fleece you.

uh...whats the point of having less traffic? it should be considered good if it can handle more traffic!
When its decided that we need to choose which garbage can is the best, then we have no choice. But the real question is, are our airport that good, to be called as "BEST". I dont think so. Just look at the airports at HK or Bangkok, Frankfurt, SF, LA, Detroit or Denver. These airport are eligible to compete for the tag of "BEST". There isnt a bigger differnce between our airports and bus depots/stands.
Hi. Dudes ,When the author is Asking which is the best Airport in India, how come u compare with International Airports. Please try to understand basics. When we cant compare ourselves with Americans or any other Developed natiions. Look what we Indians are invented. Nothing except doing good for nothing. So plz dont compare other things, first compare ourselves. So please Respect India.

Malaysia and Thailand are both developing countries....why cant we compare our aiports with theirs? And these countries are handling more than 15 mil tourists a year compared to 4.3 mil in india!
I would say the Mumbai Airport is the best airport in India, but cannot match the international class of other airports in other countries. Once i lost my luggage at airport & next day i found it easily, which can't happen in other indian airports, i thank all the custom officers who helped me a lot. MUMBAI AIRPORT IS THE BEST AIRPORT.

So you have went to all the airports in india and kept one bag and analysed, dont you?
Eventhough Bangalore became international airport only after all the metros were internationalised, it has raced to the number 1 position....this could also be seen as - when chennai began operating electric trains, bangalore did not have the facility to handle electric trains, it was only recently that this facility has come up.... Both Bangalore's railway station and Airport are world class, because it is the IT Capital of India... Anyway authorities are taking care that the stray dogs are being kept away from the runways and passenger terminals.. They are only allowed inside the main gate but not inside the rooms... Our great police (next only to Scotland yard) have commited to take action against any stray dog which might bite for passengers... Since the local kannadigas stink a lot, they have arranged an automatic machine designed and programmed by Bangalore guys to automatically sense and spray scent on any stinking passenger, thus avoiding the incidents of vomitting on aircrafts. BANGALORE IS THE NUMBER 1 AIRPORT IN INDIA... Karnataka matha jai.

Okay I agree, Bangalore International Airport is the World's Best BUS STAND... Happy kya? But beware our Next-to-only-sctoland-yard-Police have plans to take stringent actions against the Stray dogs in our airport (bus stand for others). Hence it might be comparable to Jabalpur airport very soon.

Yeah they are... dont u know of the famous stringent actions they have planned against stray dogs in Bangalore? They have also planned to fine and arrest anyone saying "Bangalore"... it is now "Bengaluru"

Sweet, Enjoyed your post. I feel the Majestic Bus-Stand is better than the Bengalooru Airportu.
uh? what the..? I dont think any Indian Airport deserves the term 'best'! The airports are a shame and embarassing to say the least. If you really want to see the best airports in asia then check out kuala lumpur international airport in malaysia, chang mai in singapore, swarnbhumi in bangkok or the new upcoming beijing airport!
RE:Best Indian Airport?

and thats is the precise reason of me mentioning that none indian airport deserves the best status. its like comparing best among the worst.

Having travelled from almost all the major airports in India, I can confidently say that Cochin airport is the best atleast as on date. Maybe that once these new projects in delhi, mumbai, bangalore and hyderabad is done, cochin airport may fall behind. But as of now, CIAL is the best. But reportedly, cial is building a 5 star hotel with a golf course, aircraft maintenance hangar and things like that. So the fight may not be over that soon.

Agree with you..I hv gone thru mumbai, delhi, chennai, bangalore, coimbatore and kochi airports and Kochi clearly stands out..no public sector can compete with private players ..but on the flip side, its too small compared to the metro ones. But also impressed with the work being done at mumbai (gvk, gmr whoever is responsible, doing a great job)
