Gowda Vs Murthy
by Narayana Rajaram on Oct 28, 2005 09:57 PM

This is a fight between the 'Mannina Maga' & 'Bada Brahmana'. 'Mannina Maga' is no longer a farmer nor 'Bada Brahmana' a poor brahmin. Mannina Maga might win because he is better prepared and has asked some valid questions whereas the bada brahmana has been found wanting in his evasive answers. It reminds me of a dog scampering away with his tail between his hind legs when a lion just passes by let alone roar.

Who's right? Gowda or Murthy?

Drucker's great saying - In an organization what matters' is not who's right? But what's right that actually matters! This is true for State development also. Sri. Murthy has put India on the hall of fame and no one can take away that. Sri.Gowda has become the first person to occupy PM's post from Karnataka. We appreciate this. But then great minds should converge after a healthy debate. The debate seems to be degenerating into a more mud slinging against Mr.Murthy. I pity this great gentleman for having accepted the social responsibility of becoming Chairman. Time, he read that there is limit to social responsibility for a Business organization. He can decide what's good for Infosys and do that and that should put the critics at bay. As far as Sri.Gowdaji, he should deliver in terms of all-round growth and development. He has to use his mass base for development of masses. He also has to know that there is a time for everything. And now the time is of the Information / Knowledge society. It is high time the Knowledge is taken to Agrarian activities as well to propel the growth, which he is contemplating.
Put down your acrimonious debate. Rise above trifles!

Senseless allegations

I am not able to understand what this guy Devegauda wants from Narayan Murthi. Is he jealous of success of IT? Is he jealous of the very fact that it has given name and fame to Bangalore? Today, Infosys, Wipro are very well known names in foreign countries and that is all because of the efforts of these Industrialists. Govt is not contributing anything in it. So at least they should not be a Roadblock.
Ask, we the software Engineers. Outside India ,When we are greeted by locals, , its needless that we belong to IT. Once I was discussing with my German colleague -When you think about Germany what is the first thing that comes to your mind, he says - Automobiles and when we think about India what is the first thing, his reply was immediate - "IT".
Are not these politicians happy with this recognition? Why dont they mind their own business and let the Industrialist go their own way. Please, Mr. Devegauada, You have already been caught many times sleeping in the parliament, we know how much you care for our country. So please dont advertise about it and bring shame to our country. My German colleagues will laugh if I tell them about this cheap politics!!

Mr Gowda castist politician from Karnataka
by ashok zutshi on Oct 28, 2005 02:56 PM

Gowda is a politican through and through .By taking up with Mr Murthy what else he has proved. What is Mr.Gowda's reputation? He is a slow witted, castist politician from Karnataka. Even when he was PM ,what was his contribution. Did Mr.Gowda even think of building an international airport when he was CM.
Instead of admiring people like Mr.Murthy, he is out to destroy him. WHAT MORE CAN WE EXPECT FROM Mr.Gowda.

Gowda
by Girish on Oct 28, 2005 02:50 PM

Both Gowda and Murthy are self centred people who have their personal motives ahead of people development. People like Murthy and Premji, who talk nothing but IT have no clue of what poverty is. They are working on a myth, that IT solves every problem under the sun and added to that the politicians of the country have given lot more importance than they deserve. As far as Gowda is concerned, I guess this is the only good job he had done in his life time. He has put a break on a hypocrite like Murthy.

The two are incomparable
by Gurpreet on Oct 28, 2005 02:49 PM

It is an insult to Mr. Murthy to be compared with a politician like Deve Gowda. It is so easy for politicians to blame and tarnish another person's image. They are used to such slinging matches. This only deters entrepreneurs to take any initiative in the public space.

over indulgence
by Ramakrishna on Oct 28, 2005 02:28 PM

There is definitely an under current of unhapiness among the common masses who have almost been marginalised by this IT sector's bulldozing attitude and its over indulgence in defining Bangalore's outook and setting terms & conditions.
Do not forget the fact that Mr. S M Krishna failed miserably at the hustings despite staking claim in the IT sectors success. And out here in Hyderabad an over indulgence with IT sector has dealt a massive blow to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu. So it is quite clear that a degree of moderation and an element of criticism is the need of the hour. Mr. Deve Gowda , a very shrewd politician, I believe, is at it. I feel, Mr. Narayana Murthy should maintain restraint instead of playing to the gallery in this situation.
