There are few countries safe
by sridhar nanagiri on Nov 29, 2015 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

While females dread to step out of their homes in most of India — regardless of whether in Delhi, Gurgao, Noida or any North Indian cities, young boys and girls in Singapore roam freely in the streets at any time of the day or night, alone or in groups, without fear of being teased, abused or vandalised.

People don’t feel the need to to lock their homes or cars as the fear of law is all-pervasive. In fact, the sense of security is so pervasive that the government itself has to remind the citizens by putting up posters of “Low crime does not mean no crime.

During a recent visit to Singapore, a friend, who resides there narrated a tale of a taxi driver. He was on a night shift when he picked up a young woman in her early twenties who was wearing a two-piece bikini and was barefoot on the side of the road at three in the morning. She had gone for a beach party about five kilometres from where the cabbie picked her. During the party, she went for a swim but found everything missing — slippers, towels, bag, phone and money — upon her return. She couldn’t figure out whether it was a prank or an actual theft.

She, nevertheless, decided to walk from the beach to the main road where she could get a cab at that time of the night to go back home. Not once was she afraid for her personal safety and no one teased her throughout either.

but you still can\'t say there in singapore \"there is no crime\". there is crime as your comments describes. Everything of here was stolen except those two-piece bikini.

Proud to be Indian. Terrified as an Indian Women
by Raj on Nov 29, 2015 08:51 AM  | Hide replies

Divya, you said "Proud to be Indian", which is an appeasement. Next comes "Terrified as an Indian Women", which is your state of mind. In what sense you are saying this? Except India, how many countries in this world you had lived in to get this notion. You are only 29 years old. Within this 29 years how many terrified incidence you had, can you tell? It is the fear that your parents created in your brain and nothing else. If you analyze the daily incidents happening all over the world, then you will understand that India is much-much safer than any other countries. Your writing is totally biased, because you had mixed the incidence of Aamir Khan within and trying to be over smart. This clearly indicate your prejudice to a particular political party. Please do not jump into a band wagon, which has no basic principle.

Good topic
by mohan kewalramani on Nov 28, 2015 06:42 PM

DearMadam Hats off for coming out with such topic. Here the only point of discussion is not intolerance but interference. Interference has given birth to intolerance which in turn to violence. If one go back in history many big empire has fallen apart not because of autocratic governance but only because of interference in the religion of the land. So please remove this interference. Jio aur jinehe do.

I have patiently read the entire article of the author and I wish to tell her these things that I shall may be tell my daughter in future :-

1) you live in a country of a billion people , most of whom have never even been to a school, so don\'t expect them to behave even with the basic level of literacy , for get behaving socially

2) Irrespective of our country , even abroad women fear wearing relvealing clothes in unsafe/shady areas because crime rate like rapes can be higher in any part of the world ( and is ! )

3) In todays times irrespective if you are man/women its important to know self-defence , which surprisingly no one seems to talk about

4_)you will come across criminals in any part of the world coz just like good deeds, crime too isn\'t going to vanish from the world

SO All in all DONT TARGET INDIA MY SISTER BEYOND A POINT :)

by kalyan ram on Nov 28, 2015 05:27 PM

fully agree with her men.....its not women but indian men should behave properly.....make all indian men SANSKARIS.....that is the only way to reduce the crime rate in this country not by foisting dress code or culture on indian women.....
