Childish Argument

The author probably does not understand what is business. If it does not fire any employee for whatever reason, it would be a charity and not business. From where will come the money to feed this useless asset ?

It's a highly competitive world. Are we not competing in every sphere of life to be better than others ? So what's wrong if an organisation expects an employee to be competitive and deliver the desired objectives, be it revenue/ profit/ market share etc.? If you do so, you definitely are an asset. But what about employees who are truly valued, get rewarded with the best of salary/ roles/ opportunities etc. and quit ? It cuts both ways and to simply paint companies as the villains is not justified. By the way, I am just an employee but feel that this author us unfairly biased against companies.

Another biggest lie which employers tell is : We are an equal opportunity employer, which is not at all true when it comes to recruitment, age, gender and Personal background counts a lot...

employees are the biggest assets is correct when the business comes, it is lie from corporate angle, now TCS Retranches 500 employess, suzlon energy ltd, once biggest company wind energy, because of wrong decisions of big buracrators in co, now it is debt company, and they are retrenching people just like that,it is all happening in private sector, employees are the big assets, and another HR man proverb, must have team sprit, actually in above there will not be team sprit, all selfish sprit.
That is why private is private.

Good employees are worth for any organization and it is true. However, many employees are not able to utilize their capabilities for the organizations and most of the employers are not able to utilize the capabilities of their employees to create wealth. Various reasons are involved. Do not create a situation of hating each other!!! Employee and employer have to have respect each other. Without employee, the investment will not generate revenue, same way without employer, employee will not have any jobs unless gearing to invest and becoming an employer.
When the company is not doing well, no employee will stay in the sinking boat.
Look at the issues of doing good business (staying within the legal boundary and honest enough to pay all dues and taxes) are..
1.      Never get any leisure support from government (unlike the financial support that Air India getting as an example). How Air India surviving and KF died when both are equally bad managed?
2.      Or from financial institutions (bank) unless you are able to provide mortgages. The employers have to take such heavier risks during the bad times (like during the last financial meltdowns).
3.      During their best times, even if the company paid huge taxes, and created many employment with decent salaries, will employer get support during the difficult time (even from government)?

I wonder if you ever worked in a BPO or an IT Company, because your experience is at least 20 years old and is not at all relevant in the present day World...

Yes, I did not work in IT or BPO offices

Apart from IT and BPO companies, there are as many employees and employers exists in India, FYI. There are youngsters (present day world) employees too who creates greater values to companies similar to some of the old generation people whom you have noted this qualities.

If there is any problems in any or many IT and BPO offices, try solve that issue or try escalating that issue to public, but don't think that every employees in India are facing the same problem or every employers are in the same boat.

It is a Corporate world out here...
1. Nobody is Indispensable
2. You are as good as your last performance only (Prior performances and historical data is all immaterial)
3. It is all situational and present scenario only which matters. (Past and future situations are immaterial)
4. Organizations look forward for only stakeholders and shareholders interest and it is the order of the day. Everybody should accept this fact
5. Love your job not your company, because you do not know when your company stops loving you (Quoted by many)
6. Finally, everything in this world changes. Change is the only constant. So, keep up to the trend and look forward for changes. Nothing is permanent here. Today's assets may tomorrow's liabilities and reversal.

Companies hire and fire...They are for themselves and their profits..The article was relevant in the 90's...These days no one cares for Quality...What they want is immediate results...Like this Generation of Youngsters who want immediate gratification in a Samsung Galaxy Note, a Sports bike, a beautiful babe in the arms so are the employers idiosyncracies....

Looks like no corporate would consult him after reading this article! LOL! From what I understand, the author is supposed to consult to improve corporate performance (profits being one of them!) and he is writing an article which talks about only how employees should be treated like toddlers! 2 opposites. Gosh!! He needs to learn first on how to write good articles.
