The best way to beat the redundancy is to constantly update your self.Dont wait for the company to update your skills , you be on the look out, invest on your self.Learn the latest skills and network internally and externally so as to know the current trends.keep yourself one step ahead of the curve.
It is not only happening in TCS or IBM, it is happening in most of the companies- Big, middle and small. It is not a new thing, it is happening for quite some time. Previously in a Japanese company an employer was treated as the father figure and employees as members of a large family. Employees used to work in the same company from the start of the career to retirement. Today that has also changed. It is very common in USA where the boss, when feels threatened by her subordinate's performance asks the subordinate to resign on a flimsy ground and specially when subordinate is better qualified than her. Another lie very often told by Employers is " SKY IS THE LIMIT". What they do not say is "..., but do not try to cross my knee height."
This is fine. Everybody has to understand that the employee has to work for his salary being paid to him. If course he has to work sincerely and give his output having agreed for it.
There is no other relationship between employee and employer. All the other terms are Management gimmicks thru HR ( 'employees are the biggest asset"). THis is only a marketing of the organisation to the employee. Just listen and take your appropriate decision. Do your work with dedication and look into your personal interest for the benefit of your career and continue / leave
You are our biggest asset is not even half truth. It is a white lie. Poor employees become victims to Management avarcious greed to maximize their revenues

Western concept is creeping in our management. Management and employees are just acting, to please each other. Real employees affinity gone. It is just contractual obligation and a hand shake. It can be broken in either way. All that you need a genuine reason to part with and modified reason to inform. It will create social tension in the long run. All gimmicks will not be remembered for long.

companies are able to recruit cheap labour from the market hence this problem new recruits can be made experts and then shunted out for freshers
