Dont Hype Rape Too much
by Shiva Guru on Mar 09, 2013 09:05 AM  | Hide replies

In India there is no news for the media. So they hype rape as if it is a phenomenon and every male is a pervert.

We have one of the lowest incidence of such cases in the world. Also India has one of the highest incidence of reporting rape whereas in 'developed' countries like US UK only 19% of the known rape cases get into legal and only half of the cases get justice.

In India Women is respected traditionally and when respect is there freedom is restricted. Whether it is a man or a woman they have to choose between respect and freedom. They cannot have both.

It is wise for anyone to come back home before dusk.

Regards,

Shiva

Which is exactly her point. Indian men look at women only as object of curiosity (glam dolls) or mother goddesses and nothing inbetween that is realistic. The correct situation will be men should not view women as any different than a fellow man. And women should be able to act Freely WITHOUT losing respect.

Your concept of respect is falsified and immature.

It is not that women are being ordered to stay back at homes late night. It is merely an advise considering the safety aspect and a very sensible one. Nobody can enforce it however.
Similarly this stupid0 is free to advise men to stay back at home after 8 PM and see how many will heed her. When thinking goes awry this sort of twisted ideas is what is the product.

Just like everybody ,with their intellectual part of the brain been clouded by the haze of emotions, author had clouded herself with Womens security over Womens liberty . These are two different things. The recent study says irrespective of the development of nations, No women is safe after dark. Inface the statistics says the after-dark crimes against women are more in developed nations. If the Police Officer suggests curfew at 8pm for women, it means he is practical. The society is maturing but at slow pace. It had matured all these years and still maturing.Instead of blaming the Society and we have to mend our habits ensuring our own safety.

No! She has not!. She has responded to the questions on liberty and safety separately. Now, safety is a law and order problem but incidence of safety comes from the biased thinking of Indian society to view women as second class citizens - which is the subject of equality and women liberty. I think womens safety does depend to a large extent on women's equality and the attitude of the society towards women in general.

Heard about Bandra Rape?

No city is safe for anyone at night.

Either you rape or get raped or get caught or do drugs or meet with accident or get robbed or get mugged or run over someone.
