by Tamil Lover on Mar 10, 2013 07:16 AM

childish.... You all think men can do it only after 8pm. They can also do it durng day time. So u can lock them in house for the whole day.
We will be more thsn happy to stay indoors. In that case more problems. Population will double.

Why should they? The author says that to progress professionally, women are forced to stay outdoors at late nights. Either the state should protect them or society, not cripple women with advises that keeps them away from progress.

The author was right on dot in saying that Women are the most unappreciated and backward classes of India. Right from birth daughters are not given liberties to act on their free will, always made to depend or lookupon a male for her needs, cripple her with financial and emotional dependence on man, depriving her of even the basic rights. The amount of work a woman does at home (which is more due to the constraint imposed by men in not allowing women to get educated and grow up in society) is enormous and they dont get recognized.

Only when the concept of "son worshipping" attitude of the society goes away will we see any improvement in women condition - not necessarily women safety which is a different issue.

Who says "Son Worshiping" is done? When I was a child, every Friday girls were invited to feast in neighbourhood for Godesss Ceremony and were given money as well.

Whereas boys were strictly told to get lost, I took this as discrimination. So sometimes on Friday I used to wear girl clothes and play with girls and few times people mistook me as a girl and gave me free food and money.

Anyway I never robbed share of any girl, sometimes girls were invited at too many places and after eating at few houses, eating even a little more become too hard. So girls were happy to pass me on as their visiting sister from village and feast on what they cannot eat.

This is always politics
Govt shows intrest in farmers they are not improving

Govt shows intrest in minorities they are not improving

Govt shows interst in women they are not improving.

No doubt rape is crime, women should be prepared to handle any situation.

Rapes can happen any time of day and it is universal problem

When we are driving we will check brakes and helmet for saftey. even ladies should have same precautions not only for rape even for other crimes

Double Standard
by mohammad mukhtar on Mar 09, 2013 07:23 PM  | Hide replies

By calling that there are double standards you yourself are walking the way of double standard, asking men to sty indoors after 8 p.m is it not a double standard against men, so there are a set of rules which are to be followed by every one you just follow the one others will fall in place. If a woman can take bringing up her child as a profession she will excel in that too but here the profession again has double standards? so....

If we discuss further there might be a point where the author might say why cant men give birth to a child? Why cant men feed during infancy? so on.....

hello - you are missing the point, The author lashes out at the wrong views perpetrated in the indian society that if women does not venture out alone at nights they will be safe. This is a very wrong notion, isnt it? This takes the country backward.

I agree. We don't want to go backwards like our neighboring country...just few days back they executed 5 female teachers for teaching students. How unfortunate.
Top 5 countries where women themselves voted (the key factors that make life better for women -- things like education, prosperity, personal freedom, and polit-ical rights) are:
1. Norway
2. Sweden
3. Brazil
4. Canada
5. South korea

It not because of controlling but because both men & women have evolved.

No thats not the solution, Rather we need to have men and women co-exist and work in all spheres of life. This way men wont look at women in extremes - as either a glam doll or a mother goddess and women will come out of their irritating coy and shyness and be more assertive.

What we need is a social change of attitude which comes with a healthy and mature interaction between men and women right from childhood.

Just grow up! you need to first understand that women have equal RIGHTS to be as they like unless it is not affecting others. The society gives enormous freedom in how men can conduct themselves in society whereas it puts huge restriction on women. This should change immediately,.
