Let us disclose the procedure of survey
by sirisha k on Mar 01, 2013 10:40 PM

The so called Indian universities are good by Buildings. good biuldings are not the sole criteria for ranking. So many parameters are there for ranking. They are 1)Infrastructure 2)quality of teachers 3)Number of reasearch projects (not copied) completed 3)No. of working days 4)quality of students 5)culture and climate at the institure etc. If we take this criteria, DU may not be there. In DU, politics dominate over studies. Working days are less comapred to many Indian universities. Comapred with these so called universities in these list many south bound Institutes are far better. The survey may be conducted in only Delhi and Mumbai.

THE REAL PROBLEM OF UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA IS THEY DONT GET STUDENTS WHO COME FOR LEARNNING. THEYCOME TO PROCURE QUALIFICATIONS .MORE THAN STUDENTS CLUELESS PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS NONSENSE.SOME OF THE TOP IT COMPANIES HAVE STOPPED GOING TO IITS AND IIMS BUT PREFER PRODUCTS OF ROADSIDE COLLEGES. You do not need IITians or IIM guys for IT, IT is a below par job where donkeys are paid high salary. These guys are required in manufacturing which is the back bone of country's economy

95% of the IT in India is depending on the white skin brother, if they pull out, crores of people will be on roads. What are you talking about here. The fact is, most of the IT jobs in India are z category, best are still performed in US. IT is not a criteria for anything, universities are know for the Nobel laureates and not IT people.

hahah...ignorance is bliss...! white skin americans are fast disappearing(fact no1).. and almost all the IT companies (including urs) depend on Americans regardless of their skin color. no country can survive by its own anymore brother..! the world needs everyone to support eachother...

the fact that you even need to compare yourself with the contribution of iitians tells us 2 things. 1) you concede iitians are truely special (which we are) and 2) you are not good enough. you dont have it in you to match iitians in anyway. you dont have it in the genes.

I don't think it has to do with the genes per say. It's all about the grooming a kid gets when the kid's school or education was decided by the parents. I am not talking about genius kids, they will do good anywhere even if they have not gone to good colleges. I don't have to take names here.

reiy ferna..'s saying seems incorrect...examples r china..south korea who still in process of learning english.. but b4 that they r already in tops...it is only indian who looks down upon their own culture n traditions nnn of which media takes full advantage to earn moolah n moolah...ex. is game of cricket...which doesn't benefit the youngones in anyway...rather stalls their developing in some useful contributing persons....

"1100 institutes from 30 countries
by piri on Mar 01, 2013 08:31 PM

were contacted for this survey" !

Now, which are these 1100 institutes?

How many of them are from India?

How many of them are from the other countries?

And what are the relative standings of these institutes?

Were the institutes given equal weightage?

And if there was a disproportionately large number of Indian universtities in that list, was this advantage nullified by suitable adjustments in the weightage given to the individual institutes?

A whole lot of questions without answers!

A whole lot of questions purposefully ignored!

Ignored for what reason?

Fear that if a truly balanced survey was done across all nations, across all standings, it might even be found that the very existence of universities in India is largely unknown??

What Is The Big Deal
by Balan Iyer on Mar 01, 2013 08:09 PM

So what is the big deal about it? Let there be 4 in the top 100 or 40 in the top 100, we Ind ians are branded in the West just as Academic Brains and not Creative Brains since we have not produced any Brains like Thomas Edison (Light and Electricity) and Tim Berners Lee (Internet)

Great Nations Great Education
by Sachin Nair on Mar 01, 2013 05:44 PM

Its clear- the nations that invested in education hundreds of years ago are today the richest nations of the world.
China's and India's presence is relative to their importance in the world and its contribution to humanity in form of innovation, ideas and thoughts.

The Oil rich countries do not figure anywhere on this list. This list provides a clar picture of why some nations are where they are....!
Let us in India aspire to grow.
