BIASED SURVEY
by ANKIT TALREJA on Mar 02, 2013 11:04 AM  | Hide replies

These surveys are completely biased. If Indian universities are not the best, why are these western countries putting visa restrictions? If they are the best, why is Obama asking his students to study hard to compete with Indians?

Last year, no Indian University was in top 300, now 4 have made it to top 100....too good to be true.

What is the index used for computing the ranks? No one knows.

why are indians backward
by brian crasto on Mar 02, 2013 10:25 AM  | Hide replies

Compare the indian institutes the foreign ones which have got sprawling lawns and beutiful looks. Second they create geniuses. Indians look for greener pastures abroad leaving the country in the lurch after spending from the exchequer

Corrupt education
by Ananda Raj on Mar 02, 2013 09:37 AM

Rote learning process give super marks to enter premier institutions. There teachers are like tape recorders to teach lessons without any field experiences. AICTE require 10 acres of land , buildings, and 50lakh rupees to start engineering colleges. In realty brilliant student can not score more than 80% marks. Our students score 95% by memory disease. They are not trained for skills, knowledge as teachers are incompetent. Such a context, how India can make good university when it is monopoly business?

Making Lists
by Bodh Ramdeo on Mar 02, 2013 06:21 AM

So you finally make on the list of some useless rag which no one the world over cares about...Like who cares???
For all the empty boasting, not a single institution of Higher Ed could make it into the first 300 of the Times Higher Ed ranking, only IIT Mumbai could make it into the 350-400 rank, while many other Asian universities from Thailand, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia could and did!!!

Indian Universities
by dipankar phukan on Mar 01, 2013 11:00 PM

These colleges may be great..but not necessarily the students who are enrolled into it..There are lots of students in India..who cannoot go to this universities..not because they are incapable of but because either they do not have money or they prefer to live in India..IITs or even good state engineering colleges are comparable if not better than any one of these colleges if you consider the student quality...However what we Indians studying or working in our Land miss is the conducive environment that these universities provide to nurture your talent in flourish..

IIT is be below par now
by Deepak on Mar 01, 2013 10:41 PM

I think the standard of IITs also went down drastically. I can see the difference in quality of the students who passed out when there were only 2000 seats vs now. Those students were really genius guys but now a days, I doubt. Forget about other eng. college pass outs, many of them do not even know newton's laws, what a shame.
