It will not matter how you behave ... as long as you wag your tail vigorously when a powerful person walks by. See the people in powerful positions - are they capable?
But still some observations: 1. Some people come to work, like they have not taken bath in a month. 2. Others don't brush their teeth daily. You can identify breakfast, dinner. 3. Too many will start screaming in their native tongue often. 4. Quite a few don't look at what they are wearing. They just blindly extract any cloth from cabinet and wear it. 5. Mobile Phones shud be on silent. Many talk on phone like 3-4 hours everyday in office. 6. And if your stomach is not ok, at least go to some desolate location to release.
Here is the list 1.Dont try to save dimes by bringing a lunch box everyday, because you miss out on importants casual talks during the lunch time. Your cheapness costs you big. 2.Mustache. At least make sure it doesn't make your ugly face uglier. Hair cut is once 20 days, not 2 months. 3.Hair oil. I had to tell this AP guy that the oil was dripping from his hair. And the answer was, it was from last night. 4.Keep your clothes the locked bedroom, so your clothes dont smell like Sambar at work. Search google "why indians.." and it will auto-complete,"Why indians smell curry",so suck it. 5.Buy some nice clothes. You are IT guys who make better money than most americans. Indians, the richest minority in the US is looked as "cheap". Thats what people think of Indians as. Most of you dont even know brands besides Walmart and Target. So spend some money on yourself, its going to help you in long run unless you want to be tester/coder all your life. 6. Use English when in public. Telugu, Tamil isn't "soft" and it isn't very nice on ears like French. At least keep it low and short. 6. Work out or walk. Spend time on yourself and your health. Stay home wives are even worse. At least look presentable. Losing hair line, ugly facial hair, visible nose hair , mismatching checked shirts, one pair shoes everyday and shy eyes hovering females. Short/skinny build with tummy. Change it. Women, lose the tires, the dowry gold(looks ugly/cheap no

Stop speaking hindi at office, speak English. English is understood by one and all. South Indians speak English well.
about the whole Indian work force to some third rate nut-case. More so for rediff to authenticate this write up by publishing it as is. Shame on rediff. 1. Feeble speaking has been attributed to soliciting greater attention from audience. Even Bill Gates speakes in low, humble voice. Of course Steve J spoke authoritatively and was known to have a tone of arrogance in his internal talks. They are two different ways or styles. Both have their merits and demerits. Wrong to judge one to be better than the other. 2. Eye contact? - Cultural. In some parts of the world - Arabean penunsela for example - prolonged eye-contact amounts to showing disrespect to the authority. Same with Japanese cultures as well. One has to be sensitive to the business needs of the situation. Can't stare at someone in the name of proper eye contact.
Almost all aspects of the article is arguable. This is improper to promote such articies for the lack of better news on rediff.
write the recipient's name only when you are 100% sure the mail is to be sent, otherwise you might click on send, but end up sending something you don't want to...
When you are working in a MNC or a professional work group, kindly communicate in a language everyone in the room understand.. e.g if everyone is speaking English, and you are discussing domething with your collegue who speaks your native language say Hindi, Telagu, Tamil etc.. dont speak with him in the native language.. speak STRICTLY ENGLISH...!!

Is the discussion about who speaks native first? to get the context right is foremost aspect of any communication. You should learn this principle of communication first else you end up making frivilous comments that reflect regional partisan character.
Many employees dont understand they are one of team. Many emploees cann't work comfirtably with others whom they dislike. Everybody should understand that organisation is paying salries but not themselves. Some times everybody may end up working along with disliking people. We should accept such collegues also practically.
As a Corporate Communication trinee, what Piyush Basha has told is right. But there are Officers like Late Narasimha Rao (Ex-Prime Minister), they donot smile or react, whether you look stright or down, it doesnt matter to them. Whatever they decides, is the right deciscion. Then how to communicate with such tuype of persons ? These are all theory in our country. When we bribe, every idle machine will speak and work.Body language, look every thing counts when you speak to a foreigner.

Wrong analysis. A leader like PV Narasiamharao also might have had faith on few people and no confidence on others. If you start thinking too much negitively about bosses, you cann't win any situation. If your logic is correct, your boss will be convinced.

Narsimha Rao was a one among rare species that only a learned enough person can realize let alone his qualities and attributes...dont go with party culture but in personal capacity he was brilliant and exceptional.
