Flop Product
by pankaj kumar on May 01, 2012 02:02 PM  | Hide replies

Indian consumer are very price sensitive. Usually middle class and lower middle class people purchase scooters. They are most sentive people. Today middle class is considering Honda's product over priced. So that Mahindra & others are able to pitch in to Scooter segment. This is going to be disaster and buy the time company will realise this they will be finished. I think some consultant has made them fool by convincing them with this idea. Mr. Robert Colaninno Please read some book on India culture and Indian's mindsset.

There are other vehicles which launched after over-taking kinetic has promised alot, but what has happened they them self dont take their vehicle for exchange back for a new one the price of duro was 50k but the within 6 six months buy back they quote 23k for the just six months old one. Do u think new product Vespa can be believed as much the hype is been created. Jus to get the sale first and later to regret with??

Premium for Name
by Sensor Technologies on May 01, 2012 12:38 PM

No chance. Only a few are aware of the name Vespa in India. Indian and Japanese machines are better. Who will pay premium for name that too a average Indian buying a two wheeler. Vespa needs to change its pricing strategy.

Gone are those days...

When everything imported to India was better...

The bikes and scooters manufactured in India are far more better in durability and milage than those in Europe.

I appear people to wait for one year and then only try to go with reduced priced Vespa.

Otherwise remember the poor fuel efficiency and high maintenance of old Vespa (2 stroke).

Strange!!

I am not a businessman but somehow I do not see any business sense in bringing a scooter which is attractive just because of its colour and pricing it around 70000/-. It will not sell!! Some 'art lover' sort of people with throwable money may fall for it but with such a price this scooter cannot have sales volumes. Prices around 40000 - 45000, maybe even upto 50000 (but no more) might sell well, provide performance is excellent as claimed.

True. Agreed that vespa is known internationally and has certain USP's.But in competetion whatever uniquie features one has they can not make the price variation too much. It would have been ideal if the price is around Rs.50,000/-.

Vespa should note all these too high price quoted views seriously. Otherwise, if nothing goes well with the too high prices quoted, then the lowered image incurred may remain big backward steps for them due to the losses.
The prizes of their contests and the best ideas submitted must be awarded certainly.
