Just happen to visit China Canton Fair recently. These type of scooters were in display in many brands. The prices were to the tune of 25,000 to 35,000 only. Indian manufacturers are fleecing the customers and our Government is also supporting them in the name of supporting the local manufactuers. This needs to be taken into account.
They say that due to inherent design they cannot change and that means they are trying to push old wine in new bottles. A 50% mark up on Honda cannot be justified for all the reasons Chopra mentioned. Also age group 18-30 are more price conscious.
the real reason is to divert the customers paying Rs 15,000 extra in black market to avoid waiting period for Honda activa which is about 1 year long. A big percentage (must be maximum) of the Honda Activa sales are in the black market as dealers mostly hoard the vehicles to sell later at a profit. There is also no other good alternative to Activa. By putting a premium tag, piaggio is hoping to sell to these people. now REVEALED
No doubt it is a iconic brand, but that does not entitle it a premimum price, a mileage 60 kmpl also does not require such a premimum, being the same design as old vespa, as a once upon a time owner of vespa, you can be sure of rattling body , after a year of use.Without any obvious real value, the scooter will not sell here.Sorry old-man , you are the wrong choice to sell the vehicle.
